The North Iowa Film Festival was founded by Phillip Koolhoven & Carlos Ruiz in 2014 with the purpose of showcasing student work on the big screen.
The North Iowa Film Festival was founded in 2013 by Phillip Koolhoven and Carlos Ruiz. Currently, Koolhoven is the President of the NIFF who handles the business and financial affairs, where Ruiz is the Vice President who handles the marketing and public relations of the festival along with two board members; Mark Newcom and Betsy Yaros, Waldorf College Professors. All four will be the creative executives that decide which films are to be featured from submission in either the short film or feature film categories in the near future.
The North Iowa Film Festival is committed to raising awareness to independent film makers all over the nation.
