Quite ppssibly the best bbq sandiwch Ive ever had. Small place in the middle of 41 that you will miss if you arent looking for it. I popped in, place smells good and smokey when you walk in. Very polite and attentive waitresses and then the food comes out. Very large portions, I got more than my moneys worth. My choice was the honey glazed pork sandwich. It was simply amazing. Whoever is cooking there is a bbq God.
Great service. Tasty BBQ at a reasonable price. It is simple place - if you are looking for fancy you might look elsewhere. If you like good BBQ then give this place a try.
We loved it! Super friendly service, massive portions, delicious food. Brisket and pork sandwiches were moist, and the fries came out hot and crispy. Our son liked checking out the various animals on the walls. And as an added bonus, clean bathrooms! Love!
This place was a huge disappointment. The food had no flavor to it. Everything thing tasted the same. The mac and cheese and backed beans all tasted the same. I order pulled pork, I don't know what it was not it was not pulled pork. Way over priced for the quality of the food. Our server was horrible, the bathroom was disgusting. I honestly don't know how anyone could give them a good review. They advertised all you can eat for $12.95, but when you get there it was $15.95, and even if you wanted more for the all you can eat the waitress standing 3 feet way behind the bar never comes back to your table unless you choose to yell at her to get her attention.
Worst BBQ I've ever paid for. Went here with my parents to try the all you can eat ribs, chicken, pork, and fish. After waiting nearly 20 minutes we asked how long? since we were the only customers sitting in the place. We were assured it would only be a few more minutes. Just shy of 30min our most of our food was delivered short 1 plate of ribs that still weren't ready yet. After tasting my sides of Mac n cheese, and potato salad, I took them off the plate they were so bad. Ribs and pork were room temp, chicken and fish were at least hot. The ribs were like chewing jerky and extremely fatty. It was so bad that after our first reorder, hoping for better food we stopped eating, paid and left.
I’m giving this a solid 3/5 for the fact that if you want authentic southern food, you’re not going to get it here. I’m about 85% sure that their baked beans were Busch’s Baked Beans. Their black eyed peas are out of a can, and I don’t think they ever touched any heat. Service was wonderful and the fried okra was pretty good, but not as good as any fried okra I’ve had made by a southerner. It’ll work in a pinch, but don’t go here expecting the best food of your life.
Great service as always. Gators bites we off the chain good and enjoyed our dinner. Thank you oaks open pit. I've been to you guys since I was a little girl. And you show time and time again why your the best BBQ in the area.
This is a 39 year owned family BBQ diner. They are so great, portions are huge, cooked to perfection. Atmosphere is down to earth and very welcoming!Come hungry leave stuffed, but save enough room for their fanstatic deserts! Prices are on point as well. You will not leave disappointed!you will leave with a doggie bag BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN EAT IT ALL. EVEN IF YOU TRY!
Ribs, pulled pork, and brisket were absolutely outstanding!!! But Brunswick stew tasted like Campbell's vegetable soup and Mac and cheese was watery and bland so that knocked off a star... So they could definitely go back to the drawing board on those. But the BBQ is top-notch.
This is the second time I have tried the Oaks BBQ. The first time was a couple of months ago and I had a Pork Sandwich, Fries and Black Eye Peas. The pork had no taste of smoke and was not at all moist. The fries were okay, and the black eye peas were about as good as school lunch steam table peas I remember as a kid. Basically I was not impressed with the food at all. So in my many visits to SRQ I have stayed away from the Oaks. This evening we were in the mood for ribs and decided to give the Oaks another shot. First off the only rib dinners they offer are full racks, no half racks like most every real BBQ restaurant offers , so me and my girlfriend decided to split them. I would rate these ribs as mediocre at best. They did not have any taste what so ever. When I cut into them, there was no smoke ring on the inside edges and they were a tad tough showing they did not sit in a smoker long enough to make them tender where they would pull apart. The sauce they were covered with was bland, so you really needed to drown them in the sauce they give you. The baked beans were pretty good and the Mac & Cheese tasted like it came from the standard blue box. I live in Atlanta where there is a ton of BBQ restaurants and most every one of them have better BBQ than this place. I feel as a lover of all BBQ styles and regions that it is a real shame that a place that has been around for so long in a town where BBQ restaurants are very few that it's food is rated lower than Sonny's. With the best BBQ restaurant being all the way downtown, this place could be a goldmine if they had a really good pit master. I guess it's long time patroons who have never experienced really killer BBQ keep it open so visitors like me only give it a couple of try's.
