My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience at the 76 house! The staff and our server Jessie treated us like family and were extremely kind. The food was delicious and we enjoyed the steak, scallops, and especially the thanksgiving egg rolls. I will definitely be returning and was so impressed with the experience. Thank you again to the staff!!
The Old '76 House has a cozy atmosphere with a fireplace and wooden floor that creates a warm and inviting feel. The live soft music adds to the calm atmosphere, which is perfect for brunch. The service is good, and the prices are fair be aware though: there is an extra fee if you pay by credit card. I went there for brunch and had a good time. The onion soup was nice and smooth with great flavors. The steak and eggs and potatoes were tender and juicy. Lastly, the Belgian waffle was superb, not too sweet with nice whipped cream and fruit on top. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great brunch experience.
Let me start by this has to be the most patriotic establishment to have a burger at on July 4th. The atmosphere, the history of the building and location are second to none. Having a pint of Sam Adams here just makes it that much more special. Now the reason for the 3 stars has nothing to do with the wait staff, Johanna was awesome and included some quick history lessons for us. The pop over in the pot roast was stale, almost seems like it was made on Sunday. The burger was great, the apple crisp was canned fruit, under cooked and hot in the center like it just came out of the microwave. I'll be giving them a second chance in the near future being that today was a holiday
Excellent food and nice little historic place to visit and experience! The lamb and the pork chop was great! I really liked how the baked potato came out with the slices in it torched? It made it crispy on the edge yet it was a mashed/baked potato. Oh the live music is great to have too!
It was a great experience, while enjoying my three courses meal. That kind of feeling brings back the moments when President George Washington having his lunch here and not to miss out history been made here. Gratitude to the owner's. Preserving the structural in good a way and the meals I had was deliciously cooked. I'll will keep this wonderful memories till I alive. A place you ought to visit whenever you have time
Nice historical place to have a dinner. friendly and attentive personal.Food: 4/5
Very cool place with a great history. Small menu and a bit pricey but the food was very good. We ordered the Fish and chips and the Grilled Flatbread...both worth it. The town also has lots of history and worth exploring if you have time. Service was great and friendly!
There is so much history here that at times the stories seem fictitious. But this is a tavern which competes for the title of oldest in the nation, and it can only be assumed that a lot of history happened here. We met the owner who regaled us with tales of George Washington, Benedict Arnold, Alexander Hamilton, and of course Major John Andre, the most famous spy of the Revolution who spent his final days here prior to his execution. I bought a few rounds of the Tavernkeepers '76 Porter, made from the same recipe given to George Washington during his stays. The food was rather expensive $25.00 for a burger and fries, but otherwise it was an enjoyable visit to this historical tavern.
I met a friend coming from further north who drove over an hour to get to this place and it was pretty unimpressive. We thought my son would like it because he's a big history buff. It more like any other local tavern. The food was decent the server was very nice but the food took a long time and she just wasn't a good waitress. It's definitely not somewhere I would go back or recommend anybody driving more than 10 minutes to go to.
Outstanding service, fabulous food and lovely entertainment! We were seated in the dining area where the bar is and it was very cozy. Our Caesar salad was prepared tableside by our server which was so nicely done. Our entrees were outstanding. We shared a dessert, I believe it was the apple crunch cobbler, was yummy and beautifully presented. Such a lovely evening and looking forward to returning soon.
