I used to come here all the time and it has been about 5 years since I was last here. Normally, this place is 5/5 for me. However, with all of the construction inside the zoo and about 50% of the animals present, it’s a 3/5. You’ll find many exhibits are closed and some of the animals missing from the smaller buildings. It doesn’t help that the two food trucks and most of the restaurants were either closed and only sold drinks/chips. I went on a Friday afternoon. Admission prices should be less if they have less to offer the public. Basically a ghost town once you get inside. I recommend not coming here this year.
Incredible zoo and experience. Bring a stroller, snacks, water, a hat/sunglasses, and layers as outside can be cool but inside can be warm! Only 4 out of 5 stars for a few minor reasons. I wish they provided insights at each exhibit on what is and isn’t stroller friendly AND offered designated stroller parking at exhibits. For example, the desert dome is stroller friendly BUT it would have been much easier to navigate without strollers due to narrow walkways & traffic. Having a sign at exhibits that say “We recommend parking your stroller here for the Desert Dome exhibit.” We ended up stuck with our stroller behind other strollers and would have happily walked the kids through had we known the layout of the trail. A small thing that could enhance the experience for everyone. Lastly, I would love to see a sit down restaurant. Plenty of fast casual concessions available but would have happily taken an hour in the middle of the day to sit and eat and rest with a nutritious meal. Overall recommend this zoo 10 times over!
This zoo has so much to offer! I take my 18 month-old a few times a month. There are a lot of toddler friendly exhibits around the zoo. The kid zone has a goat petting zoo, tree top village, and water playing areas. Last time we went, one of the staff members made it possible for my daughter to see some of the birds up close. I recommend a membership if you visit the zoo three or more times a year. The aquarium is the highlight of our trip almost every time we go! The baby giraffe and baby elephants are always exciting to see. On most days there are staff members/volunteers next to some of the exhibits to give you more information about the animals names, ages, additional facts. I highly recommend this zoo to anyone.
There’s something magical about going to the zoo as an adult. Part of it is seeing things from a different perspective and having more knowledge of and appreciation for nature. My favorite attractions were the monkeys, aquarium, and sensory garden. One thing that needs to change though is the frequency and timbre of the train whistle. The zoo is supposed to be sensory friendly. As someone with a hearing injury, that thing is anything but friendly. Please consider a lower pitch and volume for the whistle. I would love to return to see the new exhibits that are set to open and the ones that were closed while we were there.
A truly wonderful zoo! You’ll enjoy the diversity of animals and keep in mind you’ll be doing a lot of walking! The aquarium with shark + sea turtle tunnel is a great rest out of the sun. Can buy food inside or bring your own. Really nice gift shop as well and great outing for couples or families. Don’t miss the giraffes you can even feed them or the monkeys in Lied Jungle. The gorilla center is top notch too.
It was good. I really enjoyed it. The variety of animals was great. There were many indoor exhibits that kept us warm. The night time exhibit was cool. Seeing those animals in their "natural" habitat was eye opening.Visited onWeekdayWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$21–30
Great place to take the kids & enjoy. So much to see & learn. Pet daycare is FREE! You can bring in your own food & drinks we brought a wagon Map is very helpful & easy to understand. Animals look happy & well taken care of
Best Zoo, hands down, that we have been to. Everything is spaced out well. You will definitely get your steps in! The day we went, we got to see almost everything. Missed out on the lions and tigers, but got to see favorites like the giraffes and elephants! We spent about 3 hours there. Food establishments were all open, and service everywhere was great. The only problem we had was that there could be more signage as we lost our way a couple of times.
I go to the zoo every year. It is a mind-clearing, meditative experience, and this year was no different. I love seeing all the animals I could spend all day watching the sea lions and got some awesome pictures this go round. My only complaint/concern this trip were the animals that had newspaper and cardboard boxes in their habitat. I'm sure the caretakers know enough to not give the animals anything that would harm them and it's certainly a way to save money, but it does break my heart a little, as it feels like I'm seeing our trash invade the natural world.
