Simon gave us an amazing tour of whiskey jack bay, Tom Thompson cairn and popcorn island. Whiskey jack was so serene and still. Simon had a great knowledge of the entire area and really livened up our lunch and tour with his friendly and enthusiastic attitude. Will definitely come back again!
Second time there, staff is very friendly, canoes are very good and the place is amazing. Store is a bit pricey, but it's algonquin, very touristic. My only suggestion is about the restaurant, don't go there, there are much better options at the nearby communities.
A nice stop with a huge parking lot for taking in the beautiful lake view, fall colours, or canoe/ kayak activities can be rented, have an ice cream, lunch/snack at the restaurant or a rest room stop. There are a few picnic tables by the lake if you choose to bring your own food.
We did Half day guided tour with them. We are a family of three, our nine yrs old sat in the center. We were fortunate to have Simon as our guide. He was patient with us - first timers for canoeing. He taught us well! He took amazing shots for us from his kayak, grateful. Simon was motivating us when we would start going detour or going slow. He also spotted a Moose for us!!! If not for him, we would have completely missed a moose as we were busy rowing! sSeeing my husband's enthusiasm for Canoeing, he also taught him how to walk with canoe on his back! He had mini snacks of cookies and apples with him. He made hot chochlate for my daughter :. We had taken our lunch and coconut water with us, which we ate on one of our halts on the way. We started by 1.30pm and we're back on site by 5.30. Hands and shoulders were completely sore. Completely worth it!!!
Stopped here for a coffee on a cool morning. They have a nice bar over looking the water. They have there kayak and canoe rental as well and a little boutique. There is also a nice terrasse.
Love the view and food here. I am posting the photos and menus of the food and drink because it seems hard to find! The only down side was that the restaurant is under staffed and have to wait for very long time to get service. The staff looked like they all wanted to quit…Otherwise 5stars
Good place have bunch of good food options veggie as well as non veggie, coffee, icecreams etc. also gift shop there has some decent stuff.
Amazing facility. Canoe rentals, a beach and lots of parking. Clean showers and lots of bathrooms. Gas pump and a restaurant on site. Gift Shop there was nice had some practical camping things there as well as novelty items.
Oh it was just gorgeous around this store. We were glad we stopped by for coffee and we end up taking tonnes of fall pictures. There was washroom area, outdoor clothing store, cafe & lots of picnic benches.
Every time we make it out here it has rained. This time on our last day in Algonquin the rain stopped and the skies opened up. It's a beautiful location to grab a bite to eat while you look out onto the lake while people canoe in or out to their Portage adventures. The food here is great as well, a bit expensive but once in a while it's just fine.
