Working in both functional and esthetic forms I try to meet the challenges each pottery characteristic offers. My porcelain and stoneware, while functional, durable, and ready to meet the expectations of everyday day life, also has a visual and textural quality that combines both traditional forms with a contemporary spirit. I work with low-fired, burnished, earthenware, and fire it with alternative methods. This allows me to approach the creation of a form, from a purely esthetic perspective without concerns of function or durability. My work is primarily wheel thrown with some hand built and altered pieces.
