The Ramsey School

Description

The Ramsey School is a historic school located in Bluefield West Virginia. Officially closed as a school in the year 2000, the Ramsey sat vacant and neglected for 8 years. Recently it was donated to Gary Bowling's House of Art a 501C3e non-profit organization. Ultimately, the Ramsey will be your one stop arts and entertainment mecca.. Inside the Ramsey's 33,000 square feet of space, we would eventually like to fill with artists studios and other oraganizations with a like minded goal of promoting the arts in and around the community. For a building that is so large, basic bills can be quite a bear so we hope to get funding to at least get a grip on some of our basic utility bills so that we are able to reopen a space that is a viable community center for the arts.

Bluefield, West Virginia - School with Most Multi-Level Entrances
Ramsey Elementary School has at least one claim to fame. Many years ago it was featured in "Ripley's Believe It or Not" because it has entrances on seven different levels. The school was built at the corner of two streets, each of which is quite steep. So, the two roads wrap around it in an ever increasing incline.
