We recently bought two couches this past weekend from TIM!! We spent in total probably 5 hours between two days talking with Tim and getting a million different pricing options and looking at different couches. We never felt pressured or rushed to make a decision. Tim was fantastic to associate with and we’re very glad he was the one to assist us in two big purchases!!
My husband and I went into the Room Place Mchenry a couple of weeks ago to look at a bedroom set… we are closing on a house this weekend. At the time when we went there was a 25% off sale.. waiting on our lenders approval to order this expensive purchase of a bedroom set, we kindly told Freddy we would be back the following week before the sale ends to purchase this set. He kindly told us the sale would still be going on and that he wouldn’t be there but another sales manager would be. Fast forward, not even a week later and we go in ready to purchase the set…. Well this sales manager told us it ended the previous DAY!!! So we decided to walk out… well in true sales person fashion, she chased after us saying that they do a 30 day price match and that she could “ guarantee probabably” it would go down to 30% off by March 9… well it’s March 9 and I have not seen any sales. Poor sales strategies.. why not honor the sale and not lose out on the deal?? Freddy is GREAT!! Whoever the sales manager woman we dealed with however, clearly doesn’t care about making sales and flat out lied to us about this “30%” off sale going on starting today…
I'll never shop here again. We bought a full sofa set, $5000 in store. Waited almost a month for it to be delivered and when it finally was, one of the electronic sections broke in an extended position right after they dropped it off. We immediately called and they said the movers were gone already and couldn't come back and they'd have someone call me back to schedule a tech to come out. After a week and me chasing them down, they finally said someone was coming out in a few days our couch was completely extended the entire time. The tech finally came out and said it's broken for sure, a part needs to be replaced. Waited another week to heat back about what they planned on doing about it and they said the part we needed wouldn't be here for 2 more months! We were ready to have them come back and take the entire set back and refund us $5000! The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because I spoke to the manager and demanded they fix it now or replace the whole section. They sent for a new section the next day and completely replaced it for free and refunded half our delivery costs. We still haven't gotten the coffee table we ordered over a month ago. Everytime we called to get answers the customer support was clueless, they had no idea how to do their jobs and gave us all kinds of wrong answers. We came here because it's the nicest furniture shop in the area. Now we'd rather drive an hour out to Arlington heights than deal with this store ever again. Ontop of that their movers are brutes! They barely speak English so they do things without telling you. We had a small couch installed upstairs and they couldn't get the couch through the door. Without even telling us they just started ripping the door off the hinges. Once they were done they left their dirty handprints all over my door and left. Didn't ask, didn't apologize for the mess, and they're very rough with the furniture.
I have purchased furniture twice in the last 6 months. Both times Debbie was very helpful in my desicions by helping me with questions such as measurements of the room and furniture, quality of furniture, colors etc. I can't thank her enough for all the time she spent with me!
Had a great time purchasing furniture for my entire house here at the Mchenry RoomPlace store. Freddy is the go-to-guy to get everything done correctly. Will be coming back and recommending others this location + Freddy.
High pressure sales tactics and sneaky terms made buying a bed here an incredibly stressful experience. I DREADED walking into the place which ended up being 5 different occasions because they won’t do anything over the phone. I gave it 2 stars instead of negative -5 stars because the salesman was informed and nice. It wasn’t his fault this purchase turned into a nightmare. The manager was the one calling the shots and put these time consuming and taxing processes in place. I ordered the wrong size bed on accident spent $2500, was forced to keep it for 30 days because that’s how the “comfort guarantee” works. Writing up the order, return, new delivery, etc was over an hour of waiting on paperwork every time. I said repeatedly I didn’t want the warranty but customer service put it on my bed base bill anyway with the manager standing over their shoulder and said “Don’t worry, you can take it off the bill later when we finalize delivery.” Sneaky! They have really pretty furniture I was ready to spend another $2k+! but the customer experience was so poor, shady, and high pressure - never again! Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else but here!

Very friendly and helpful sales staff that is NOT pushy at all. Delivery scheduling could be handled a little better. I was told on Friday that our planned Saturday delivery would be between 8:00 and 11:00 AM. We were awakened at 6:50 AM and told they would be arriving in 15 minutes. We got dressed quickly and then waited until about 8:00 when they showed up. The delivery and setup went very smoothly after that.
Debbie was fantastic!! Patient, informative, and quite lovely! We will definitely be back!!!
