The first Beauty School in San Jose, California "Endorsed by Redken for Excellence in Education". Offering courses in Cosmetology Full time + part time (1600 hours, FT 10 months, PT 23 months), Esthetics (600 hours, 11 months).

Mission

The Salon Professional Academy's is a beauty/cosmetology/esthetics school whose goal is to graduate highly trained professionals who are prepared for the 21st Century Salons and Spas. As a member of The Salon Professional Academy Franchise, we are dedicated to keeping our educational quality at the highest level in the cosmetology arts and sciences. Systems and programs are continually updated to stay abreast with our changing industry and to accelerate our student's success. In addition, we prepare our students to pass the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology State Board licensing exam.

This was my first time coming here.  It is quite busy there, and most people seem friendly enough. Masks are optional, even though it says required on their website.  People at the front desk are not inviting, and can be considered rude. I understand there is lots going on there, but a simple "how is your day" or "welcome" goes a long way.  The student that greeted me was pleasant,  friendly and personable. She knew how to make the customer feel at ease and wanted to be there.  This may have been an off day for the front desk, but I will give them another try.

I’ve been going to this school for a while in hopes of being able to find my next stylist. This last year, I have been coming back to schedule my appointments with Shanoa. What an amazing young lady with such high talents! I’m moving out of state in a few weeks but would have totally followed her to the salon she will be working at after she graduates. I have never been more happy with how she colors and cuts my hair. She will definitely succeed in this industry!  On another note, for those complaining for whatever reason about this school, please keep in mind that this is a “school” and the stylists are “students.”  They are learning and you should be mindful of that… may take a little longer, may need assistance from their instructors, etc. If you don’t have the patience or understanding of this, you should probably schedule an appointment at a regular salon and not a school. I’ve never had a bad experience with anyone here; they are all wonderful!

This was my second time coming here and I am so frustrated. I will not be a returning customer. I had called for a haircut appointment and they had confirmed the appt time and date then and there. A few days go by and I call the day of just to confirm and they said I had no appointment booked!!! I was already on my way. This was so unprofessional and who ever is in charge of scheduling really needs to fix their system. The receptionist told me to come in but then said no one was available and was trying to reschedule me for the next month after I drove over an hour. What a waste of time. So disappointing.

Go see Camila! She is fantastic and saved my hair who someone else totally ruined myselflol. I did not even have to cut it too much. She is an absolute professional and takes care of you 100%.  Thank you so much Dear Camila!

I went in for a consultation and was totally stressed out by the instructor who was talking super fast and didn't try to find a solution for what I wanted but immediately tried to say she couldn't help me and that I should go somewhere else. All the students started standing around watching her talk to me this way. It was humiliating! I will never go back. It's such a shame because I used to actually attend that school many many years ago when it was Westgate Beauty College.

Two weeks before my wedding, I got the news that the family member who volunteered to do my hair for the wedding would no longer be able to attend, and therefore would no longer be able to do my hair. My Plan B was to do it myself, but let's just say... the results were underwhelming for the expectation I had for my wedding day.  And that's where Meghan came to the rescue! I had remembered a FB post she made where she had mentioned that she was now going to TSPA. I inquired to see if she would be able to do my hair for the wedding and sure enough, she was willing to make a house call! Now it was quite a tall order... my wedding began early in the morning, and not only did I ask her to do my hair, but I requested that my mom's hair be done as well. Meaning Meghan had to be at my house at around 4:30am in order to set the curls properly on 2 clients!. She worked diligently and was able to get the job done, right on time!  She was so amazing and attentive while also being very down-to-earth and fun to talk to. Her attention to detail and her dedication to making her clients look and feel beautiful makes her one of the greatest hair-stylists I have come to encounter.  I was very pleased with the results; I had never thought I could look and feel as beautiful as I did that day, especially because I never really liked my hair to begin with. Not to mention, my hair stayed throughout the entire night!  I can never thank Meghan enough for what she did for me on my big day! But I'll start by writing my honest review about her and spreading the word!

I just had my hair cut done and I am pretty sure this is not right. I don’t know how the instructor let me leave with a hair like this. Does it look right? Very disappointed and not feeling good/ pretty.

This was my first time using the studio. I usually go to salons to get my hair done and this time decided I wanted a simple haircut and did not want to pay a lot of money. I got to salon professional Academy and was greeted by Destiny. The customer service is impeccable and what I am the most impressed with is that Destiny  walked me step-by-step on what she was doing with my hair. Coming in with a simple haircut I decided to upgrade and get my hair colored as well. Destiny listen to what I wanted to do with my hair and suggested a better course of action than what I had initially wanted. Whereas most salons would rather make money off of you I felt at this professional school it was more the end goal versus how much money you want to spend. Overall Destiny did an amazing job with my hair and I cannot wait to come back.

Big shoutout to Beverly and Shanoa for doing my hair! I wanted something fresh and bright, and I think they nailed it. What a stunning color
