Our emergency program also offers one night stays when the weather is below freezing.
TRANSITIONAL PROGRAM
Our transitional program offers consistent shelter to employed clients who can’t afford traditional housing. Clients pay $75 a week or $300 a month to stay in the Center of Hope, all the while, clients participate in Life Skills Classes. Our staff will work with clients to help them find permanent housing. Clients stay between three to six months.
Youth programs are critical to breaking the poverty cycle. Research shows that a child who attends college is seven times more likely to move in to the middle class. The Salvation Army is striving to change generations by giving children from poverty-stricken environments the chance to get a start in life in a very different place than where their parents may have begun.
We do this by focusing on three key areas:
•Education
•Talent Development
•Recreation & Athletics

How it all started………
On September 8, 1900, a hurricane devasated Galveston, Texas leaving more than 5,000 people dead. Immediately, the call to arms went out from The Salvation Army’s National Commander that all avaliable officers proceed to the disaster site to provide physical and spiritual assistance. With that order, The Salvation Army’s Disaster Services program was born.
