The San Mateo Police Officers’ Association is a non-profit corporation formed in 2006.
The organization receives funds from membership dues, private in-kind contributions and special public fund raising events.
The San Mateo Police Officers’ Association serves as the legally recognized labor representative for all San Mateo Police Officers, Reserve Officers, Police Dispatchers, and Community Service Officers. In this role, the SMPOA represents the interest of its members during contract negotiations and all labor related issues between the SMPOA membership and the City of San Mateo. The SMPOA provides legal assistance to its members should a member be involved in a departmental investigation, and or criminal and civil litigation. The SMPOA makes available supplemental health and life insurance benefits to its members and families.
The SMPOA maintains a good reputation within the community and supports local and regional charitable events. The SMPOA Board of Directors encourages member participation in charitable and worthy causes believing that such outreach bridges the gap between officers and the public at large. The SMPOA fully supports the ideals and practices of the San Mateo Police Activities League (PAL) program and has a SMPOA Board Member on the PAL Board of Directors.
In the spirit of organization unity, the SMPOA coordinates and host social events throughout the year to support camaraderie and good fellowship amongst the membership and other department employees.
