Hand Crafted Solid Wood Heirloom Furniture
Nestled deep in southern Albemarle Co. Virginia is a woodshop where hand fitting and solid hardwoods have not given way to automation and particle board. A place where traditional, elegant furniture is created just like it has been for over two hundred years- by hand. A place where each piece from design and layout to the beautiful hand rubbed finish under the care of one person. Master craftsman George Seymour has over forty years of woodworking experience. His desire is to create pieces that will become family heirlooms, without attention to his personal monetary gain. What sets George's furniture apart from the rest? Besides the qualities already mentioned, it all comes down to one thing, cost. We all know the high cost of top quality, factory made furniture. But why is it so expensive? Overhead, wages, healthcare, pensions, rent, utilities, etc. account for 50% of that $2200+ you must pay for a cherry drop leaf table. Things are quite different at George's shop. He has none of the above mentioned expenses. No production quota's to meet. Just the time and desire needed to produce the finest furniture possible.
All material is hand selected by George, mostly cherry from Pennsylvania, curly maple from upstate New York, and black walnut are the hardwoods of choice.
Need to match existing colors? Need a special size table? No problem. You need not go to the internet and spend twice the money for the same furniture. You can speak face to face with the person who will craft that special piece to your specifications.
