Wonderful and Amazing Theatre! The love of Plays and Shows here are the Best. Plays are Magical and a must see. Add them on Facebook and read the Calenders of Venues. Ask for Jack. And tell them Tim Sent you.
The Strand is the genius child of a couple of classic film lovers with a grand sense of community spirit. The Strand had been closed for decades, but with vision, several years of inspired work, and the generous support of supporters and volunteers, the Strand has risen like the Phoenix from the ashes to become the best reason to be downtown in Vicksburg at night. Classic films, local theatrical performances, filmed operas, and special events including an annual film festival attract a friendly, hip audience. Snacks, soft drinks, and wine in very attractive surroundings all contribute to a most pleasurable--and dare I say--urbane experience.
Great price, free popcorn, restored 1930's theatre. Older style theatre seats so dont expect stadium style recliner seats. Took the kids to see Monty Python Holy Grail, everyone rode their coconut horse out of the theatre. I hope they continue to show some of the "Classics" really reminded me of going to the movie theatre when I was young.
We had a girls night to go see a friend in a play here, the theatre is small and cozy, which I love and often prefer when going to see a performance. They serve a small selection of wine, the seats are comfy and the people who run the Strand are friendly. If you want to go see a play in Vicksburg, go to the Strand Theatre.
A lot of history with the theater. Non profit runs the theater and they don't charge for other non profit groups. Kudos to Strand Theater
Great entertainment and the people that worked there were very nice! Highly recommend this place.
YASSSSSSSSSS love love love. Go go go to see a show!!! U will love it
The best place to hangout on a Saturday evening in Vicksburg. An eclectic mix of films ranging from documentaries, and art films to quirky comedies and foreign language gems are screened regularly. For the theatre lovers, the local Westside Theatre Foundation also has frequent live performances. The Strand is also one of the only two places in the entire state to host the Manhattan Short Film Festival every year which runs to an absolute packed house. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the complementary sealsalt popcorn. No wonder this is a regular haunt for the cinephiles and theatre lovers.
Beautiful and historic with great people working there that loves bringing out the community.
The production value has gone down since pre-covid. Building needs refurbishing as well.
