Our mission is to provide affordable space for artists to create art, inspire and be inspired by artists, a community of artists dedicated to celebrating the arts in Lewiston/ Auburn, Maine.
The Studio is a shared artist space in the heart of Lewiston’s historic block and Art’s district. Our mission is to provide affordable space for artists to create art, inspire and be inspired by artists, a community of artists dedicated to celebrating the arts in Lewiston/ Auburn, Maine.
We do this by having Open Studio’s a few times a week by invitation only. Attendees must be creating art while here. This can range in varying forms of visual art, writing, poetry, music, collaging, painting, drawing, knitting and or fiber art, and so on.
We host Figure Study sessions a few times a month with a live model. Models range in age, size, shape and gender identities, as our world is shaped by all of the people in it and we are firm supporters of body positivity and all the human form has to offer.
We participate in Art Walk Lewiston Auburn held from May till December on the third Friday of the month of every month.
We host a fundraiser for the Dempsey Center (located in Lewiston) called Breast Impressions, a collective body of artistically hand painted imprints of breasts. Our artists and models were inspired to paint and be painted to create awareness and give more visibility of the way that breast cancer has touched so many of our colleagues, friends, and family members. This project has had models of many sizes, shapes, and gender identities as cancer has no boundaries.
We also take part in events and collaborate with the Union of Maine Visual Artists Lewiston Auburn Chapter and the Downtown Lewiston Arts District.
The Studio is owned and operated by Grayling Cunningham.
