The employees were amazing and did such a great wonderful job on the super hero adventure. Highly disappointed about paying for air conditioning train which was broken down and they only offered beverages which was a warm water. They did not off to refund the extra for air conditioning which was about 25 for 3 tickets. The fans inside either did not work or they didn't turn them on. The ride was ok but not very scenic just some fields and buildings. My son enjoyed himself and the workers doing such an amazing job
We took my son 12 on the historic train ride on the Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad to close out his birthday festivities. They told us the Steam engine train only runs 2 weekends out of the year! We had a complete blast! My son tried to act like he wasn't having a good time, but he not one time got on his phone except to take pictures . We can't wait to experience the other train rides they have! If you're thinking about taking your family or even for a cute date, DO IT! The price was amazing, and the atmosphere traveling back in time on the train was a huge plus as well.
Took my Mother-in-law and my Father on a ride for their birthday's. It was a steam locomotive . It was fun and something different. They enjoyed it
Not what I was expecting. If my expectations were a little lower maybe three stars but overall not worth it at this price point. Train goes about 8 miles an hour at most. Departure time was 3:00 pm and didn't leave until about 3:12. The 45 minute ride to the patch took 14 minutes. The "field" with plenty of activities is very anemic. The two pictures show everything. Can't imagine when the train is full, most would be standing around for nothing. It says food trucks but it's not actually food trucks like you'd expect by reading that. It was 10 dollars for 5 cookies. 9 dollars for a double cheeseburger but didn't want to try the hot food. Kids 8 and under this may be okay, but I wouldn't bring older kids. Upon leaving the field we did continue. Went another 12 minutes before reversing direction back to station.
Went on the Sweetest Day wine and cheese train with my girlfriend. We loved the vintage rolling stock. Check in process was easy. Staff was extremely friendly. Happily refilled our wine several times. Price wasn't bad at all. Met some cool fellow passengers on the ride. Only downside was no restroom on train which wasn't mentioned beforehand. Not a huge deal but something to keep in mind before boarding. There are restrooms conveniently located near the boarding area. Overall great experience and we will do more of their excursions. Highly recommend
This is a nice historic railroad line. They typically have cars on loan and provide family friendly events like a pumpkin patch ride wonderful event, polar express event which is fantastic, and even adult themed rides. My husband and I just had a short date night and tried the bourbon experience which was nice. I expected the distillers to present their bourbon, maybe tell a fun story Boone County has a ghost story tied to it, and then serve the alcohol to us. The train ride is probably too short since there were 2 brands. They actually hand you a drink ticket and then you go to the drink car to get the samples but they also included little snack bags with pepperoni sticks and a nut mix. It was a nice touch. The conductors are always great, the trains are respectfully kept, and last night they had the windows propped open for the breeze which was nice for a beautiful autumn ride. The rides with children tend to be shorter because of all the activities planned pumpkin picking, bouncy houses, elves making balloons, Santa, hot chocolate & cookies. The adult rides are longer with less announcements. Very nice local attraction.
I wasn't familiar with the Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad not being from the area. We went for the first time doing the Pumpkin Patch Express. I'd already seen some reviews beforehand, but I'd like to share my own experience and luckily, I don't agree with all of them but some I understood. Overall, it was fun experience to ride the train and visit the city. It's a beautiful historic district and there were a lot of great photo opportunities. I had no complaints about the train itself. It wasn't hot and the windows did open of course that may be much different in the summer months. We didn't pay extra for the deluxe coach, and I'm glad we didn't. Coach was just fine and it was in decent shape. I agree with another review that it would be cool to receive a commemorative ticket as part of the experience, but they just write your name down on an index card. Also important!!! - if you're in a group but buying separately, reach out to let them know who all is in your party so that you're all assigned to the same car. Luckily I had to call and reschedule for me and my group, otherwise we may have been assigned to different cars. Moving on to my experience with my child - I brought my 2 year old and he seemed more interested in walking around freely than being on the train! All kids are different and go through different stages, so you can't necessarily generalize how your own 2 year old might do. I was disappointed he was lumped into the 2-12 year old age range for pricing which was significantly higher than infants. Sure, he's no longer an infant, but you certainly can't compare a 2 year old to a 12 year old. I suppose part of that had to do with "taking up a seat," but he certainly wasn't in his own seat the whole time. Maybe they could consider another subgroup of pricing for the toddlers/small children. I know some people have complaints of where you go for the pumpkin patch express which is a small landing next door to soccer fields, but to be honest, if you want a whole pumpkin farm experience, then that's where you should go. I think it was satisfactory given that a main focus is the train. The pumpkins were cute, there was a small hay maze, a little bounce house for kids, and some cornhole-type games too. I also enjoyed the local products they had for purchase. After the layover, the train continued forward for a little bit though I'm not sure why. There were plenty of trees and a little river it looked like, but nothing I was super impressed by scenery-wise. There were a lot of homes and some businesses. While I overall had a good time, it would be nice if the train ride itself was more scenic, and I think young children might be the best age to do this experience with. Like I said, every child is different, so this is just my personal opinion! I think it's a cool activity and I like how they have so many different event! When my little guy is a few years older, I'd love to go back and try something else out :
A very fun and affordable experience. The conductors were nice, and informative.
First time going here. It was the North Pole Express & we purposely went on Dec. 24 so it would be extra special. It was something new to do but I wasn't blown away. 1st let me say....I am 300 pounds & was still able to get up into the train and get to my seat comfortably. So plus size ladies don't let that intimidate you! 2nd. If you have any motion sickness TAKE YOUR DRAMAMINE at least 30 mins before boarding because the train CONSTANTLY rocks back & forth & it drives very slow. Now about the seats...for the price I paid for the deluxe seating; I expected to have knee room. NOPE! I'm 5'7 my oldest daughter is 5'4 & my youngest daughter is 5'11. Knees were knocking. Our caboose was nicely decorated BUT the interior lights were on which didn't make for a cozy nostalgic atmosphere. I say that because I noticed some other cabooses without interior lights & their spot looked dreamy. The outdoor shop items were a tad pricey. I paid $5 for 2 pretzel sticks with 1/2 of it dipped in icing/sprinkles. And $8 for a hot chocolate & apple cider. No restroom on train so it is best to you the restroom before boarding...2 stalls only. There is also 2 port-o-pottys located behind the coca vendors. Music was playing inside of the train but there was absolutely nothing to look at out of the window. Major let down right there. So no knee space, full lights instead of just ambience lighting like the other cars, rocking side to side...slowly, & pricey items. BUT there was a festive dressed elf making balloon animals for the kids, Santa made an appearance, we got a cookie & a bell. We also did a sing-a-long to a few Christmas songs. I won't be doing this again BUT I can say that I did it once & made some memories with my children & grandbaby.
I’ll share this as the father of a son obsessed with all things trains and steam engines. We went on the summer steam ride. We didn’t know what to expect, but it was a disappointing overall. First, there is no power on the trains. There are no fans, no AC, and therefore you’re sitting in a sauna for an hour. We went when it was 82 outside and we roasted. If you have very young children or older members of your party, they could become tired from the heat. Second, the train only goes 5 mph. It’s a very small 0-4-0 locomotive and can’t haul much. As for the route, it was ok, but you’re just passing a bunch of buildings and random fields. It’s not a scenic trip whatsoever. Final point… the young man who was our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about trains. However he did not stop talking during the entire trip. He told story after story of random train knowledge which didn’t have much to do with our trip and that prevented us from actually talking to our party. I noticed the other car guides didn’t talk nearly as much.
