Description

The Walk-In Clinic has been serving the community seven days a week and the clinic operates 360 days per year. It is staffed primarily by local family doctors.
The Truro Walk In Clinic was opened in 2002 as the areas first multiservice walk-in clinic founded by Drs. Linda and Murdo Ferguson

We have a dedicated local team of physicians and core staff making the Truro Walk-In Clinic an indispensable asset to the people of Truro and the surounding area.

The clinic operates on a first-come-first-serve basis. We are open evenings Monday to Friday and daytime Saturday and Sunday. We deal with routine medical issues normally seen in family practice. We are not an Emergency Department. If you feel that you have a genuine medical emergency, we advise you to go straight to your nearest Emergency Room or call an ambulance.

We are occasionally closed due to inclement weather or physician’s lack of availability. In this situation, we will post a sign at the Walk-In Clinic.

Extremely incompetent receptionist and doctor. The doctor ignored all my symptoms and prescribed over the counter medication. The receptionist is unable to take accountability for her errors. Mistyped a poor woman's information in her file as I was waiting in line then kept telling her that she would not correct it in her system. Even after the woman said that she would not be able to get insurance coverage with the wrong paperwork the receptionist provided. The receptionist did not even make an attempt to provide alternative solutions or find someone who can fix it. Terrible to see people suffer in illness and desperation at the hands of incompetent staff.
Surprised the reviews aren't a bit better. They helped me out by explaining what I needed to do when no other clinic was able/willing. Then I messed up by returning too early and they sent me away without charging me for the appointment, then called me when I should return. That was my experience with them- helpful, professional, and above and beyond.
You can walk in for an app or you can call for an app. Very clean, fast and good service. Friendly staff. Im greatful that we have a walk in clinic in Truro.
In my opinion, this is everything a WALK-IN CLINIC should be! The doctor is given a 10 minute slot time to listen to, diagnose and potentially prescribe a remedy. The problem isn't this location or the doctor, it's the Province of Nova Scotia's LACK of available family physicians but, seems everyone is in a hurry to blame Dr. Sharma! He's not a pill-pusher like most Doctor's I've seen or heard of... if he's unsure, he will send you for bloodwork! He wants to help. He and his wife work constantly, if not there, at their private practice or elsewhere... they barely even have time for each other let alone themselves because they are out servicing us! Reason for 4-stars vs 5, and completely understand when the Medical Receptionist already has so much on her plate but, yes, the scheduling should be altered. Maybe book for more than just the next day if you have the availability to return all messages. Thanks for all you do!
Dr. Shen is a fantastic Doctor. He is friendly, patient and listens to everything. I found him to be a compassionate Doctor and wished I could have him as my family Doctor. The young lady at the front desk is cheerful, friendly and helpful. This walk in clinic is superb!!!
I called many time but was never able to speak with a person. The clinic hours mentioned on website and flyer are different than mentioned on phone. This Saturday, after calling at 9:30 am for a same day appointment asked to record a voice message, when I went there at 10:15 am, the person told me, I could see a doctor at 11:55 am even when I have called earlier. I was told by the nurse at Colchester East Hant hospital, to go there for blood collection services, but the receptionist said that they do not provide this service here. There is no online booking service either.
Does this place ever return calls? I’ve called twice in the last 2 months to make some type of appointment with no answer.
call over and over to hopefully get a chance to leave a message. Then once you can leave several messages they are not always returned. I have waited over a week for an appointment and I called several times each day to try to book it. Once you get an appointment it feels like you won the lottery. no joke
My daughter went in for a scratch on her eye, we were using antibiotic eye drops for 24hrs and still very sore. Afraid there might be debris in the eye, we made an appointment for later the same day. Once we were seen by Dr Sharma, we were immediately greeted by a dismissive attitude. He barely looks at her and says that he will write her a prescription . Alarmed, I asked if he could tell if there was any kind of foreign debris is the eye, he answers that he cant see that and she she go to the hospital. At which point we left. Took a grand total of 2 minutes. No bedside manor, dismissive, arrogant attitude. Very clear this man is interested in increasing his billing and not so much in the quality of care he gives a patient. I will never go again and recommend others wait ar outpatients if the need to see a real doctor.
Dr Sharma is absolutely useless and should be fired. I went there with serious chest pain and lots of other symptoms, but instead of listening to me or even doing any tests, he gave me a false diagnosis and prescription. I ended up in the hospital because of untreated pneumonia.
