Mission

In the bible, Jesus was led by The Spirit of God into THE WILDERNESS to be strengthened and prepared for His ministry. The children of Israel wandered through THE WILDERNESS and grew in their dependence on and understanding of God as they made their journey to their promised land. King David fled to THE WILDERNESS to take refuge from his enemies and to be still with The Lord. THE WILDERNESS, in the bible, has been a symbol of intimacy, refuge, preparation and sanctification, and it is this symbolism that led us to name our family friendly campground THE WILDERNESS. It is our desire that families and individual campers alike would be able to retreat to THE WILDERNESS to foster intimacy within their families, find a time of refuge from their stresses and develop a deeper connection with their savior.

Attempted to get a site for a visit. Emailed Homer to explain details. Emails are best because communication can be one sided. He is not a communicator whatsoever and made each email difficult. I completed the paperwork and was all ready for my stay when I booked, the dates were open. Then he emails me after 3 times to get a correct response that it is selective choosing for you to stay at this site. He then told me that he did not like my sarcasm and I would need to stay elsewhere. Apparently his lack of communication enables him to use the word SARCASM for professional informing your customer. Camper beware with this site. Honestly, I did not even get to stay and it was completely painful. Update 2/19/2019: As you can see from his timely 3 weeks later response that this is a procrastination on his part. Again beware. To call me difficult when I simply wanted details is a warning people. Not to mention, that he has never met me. Again a warning. The response was so long and gibberish that again, Warning. Take care. I have talked to many people who say, no will never go again and it scared them. Again Warning.
Excellent place took my son over Easter weekend in a group of around 12 the different size spots really help to furnish a comfortable setting. It really is a beautiful place very serene. The amenities are also very helpful bathrooms, showers and having carts to help get stuff to your site was great. I will be back for sure and am already schd. another time to go Homer is very friendly and helpful always answered the phone if I had questions and met with us upon request for us to thank him in person. ofcourse his schd. permitting thanks for having us and allowing us to make memories there cant wait till next time.
Wonderful! What a nice property. We will definitely come back. Everything was clean and well maintained. We had privacy and the outdoor experience we wanted without having to go too far from home. The owners were kind and responsive to our inquiries. Truly a family camping oasis.
The Best Tamales in Texas! Delicious Cajun Boudin ready to grill at the campgrounds or take it 20-Go frozen. This is a wilderness experience behind Magnolia High School. Beautiful Campgrounds and picnic area plus a unique farmers market open to the public on Wednesday mornings 10-Am -2-PM also Sunday Family Fun Day Open from 2-PM - 6-PM and great variety of unique fresh made healthy products. I love being associated with this new community Farmers Market.
We camped at the Wilderness Campground this last weekend and it was OFF THE CHAIN! I recommend not just the facility but also Battle Cry Ministries. I went with my boy to a Father/Son camp out. There were about 10-14 of us. First, the facilities were amazing. I couldn’t get over the campsites, each had a picnic table and a fire pit. we stayed at the Emmaus campsite. We took multiple grills, coolers, 5 tents...we were loaded with way too much supplies and equipment. You can imagine our happiness when we saw rakes, shovels, trash cans, wagons to tote our supplies, firewood free of charge, grills, clean bathrooms and showers, horseshoes, washers, tetherball, picnic tables...all at our disposal. The campground was immaculate, clean, well maintained, monitored, raked...almost broom swept grounds. Second, Homer, the leader of Battle Cry Ministries, was without a doubt, one of The finest gentleman I’ve met in a long time. Answered my call EVERY time, Gave me more than adequate information about the facility. He was kind, patient, informative, and transparent. He was patient and kind to our boys...cause let’s face it, boys being boys can get into some foolishness. He exemplified true Christianity to them as he extended Mercy and Compassion. He took precious time to invest in them at a teachable moment. I saw another Google review concerning Homer that was very negative almost vindictive...I just don’t believe it’s true...nothing like the fellow I met. The Wilderness Campground survives on donations alone...I donated initially out of obligation to book a reservation. After camping there, I went back a donated more because I was so impressed all around with the faculty and facility. A must see...a 10 out of 10 in my book. We’ll be back. Quintin Creme
It was 11 pm, and I was so tired that day, It felt like heaven to find such a nice place, I was looking for the person in charge of collecting the money and they said it was free! Take a flashlight with you it's super dark, the atmosphere and sounds make it really relaxing.
The service was a decent length of time and the people were very welcoming! Plus, the words Mr. Homer speaks, r heartfelt to the bones.
Fantastic, I learned so much and had an absolute blast. My family will definitely be making going to their annual Men's Retreat a tradition of ours
Amazing campground an hour from Houston! Very modern facilities and cool community space with an old bus and cozy lights.
