The mission of the William Randolph Hearst Historical Society and Library is to promote a greater understanding of, and appreciation for, William Randolph Hearst, his life and times as well as his interests and endeavors. His travels as a young man stimulated an appreciation of art and architecture and for the collecting of fine arts, antiques and other objects of interest. He was a journalist and publisher, art collector and builder, civic leader and Politian and a pioneer motion picture producer. He is one of California’s most famous native sons. The Library is a research and resource center consisting of research materials that includes books, photographs, newspapers and magazines, postcards, music sheets and other memorabilia dating from 1860 forward.
