As a pet owner I know that taking your pets (whether they are dogs, cats, rabbits, or horses) to a boarding facility or vets office while you are away can be very stressful for your pet. Often they are kept in kennel runs during the day and a cage at night with no chance to exercise or relax.
Instead of causing that stress on your pet I can come and take care of your pet or you pet can come to my home if it meets my criteria. For dogs to stay with me they must be house trained and/or crate trained, they must get along with other dogs, and cats and need to have basic manners, including leash manners as all dogs are walked on leash. I also require your dog to have a current rabies vaccine, however, your dog does NOT have to be spay/neutered (my dogs are spayed). I live on almost two acres of land with a large 9-panel dog kennel for some outside time on nice days (depending on the dog(s) that are staying with me, I understand not every dog can or should be placed in a kennel). I live next to a large field with a pond at the bottom for evening walks. My animals are all up to date on rabies vaccines, and flea/tick prevention.
A frequently asked question of me is whether I board cats, the answer is YES! However, cats must be up to date on rabies, flea and tick treatment, litter trained and indoor only. Cats that are not pedigree breeding cats must be spay/neutered. I have a semi-finished basement (concrete floors, cinderblock walls but no dirt or filth) in which I can keep cats, that is safe, and cozy. Its almost one big living room, no cages here. With plenty of places to play and hide (I know some cats are much more timid than others). Cats will be kept separate from my cats and dogs to keep stress as low as possible.
I have worked with cats and dogs for over six years at the Campbell County Animal Shelter and own two dogs, four cats and one snake. I have trained all my animals myself (aside from the snake of course) and have studied felines and canine extensively in terms of behavior, genetics, breeding, and nutrition. I am more than happy to answer any and all questions and can provide references for my services.
My other services include dog walking, feeding and cuddling and of course medication and routine! I pet sit in the Campbell County and Lynchburg area, to set up an appointment please call or text (contact information is under the reply button) if I do not answer please leave a clearly spoken voicemail and I will call you back when I am able. You may also email me. Appointments must be made at least a week in advance. My fees are as follows for dogs: $20 for one dog per night, $25 for two dogs per night and three dogs or more are $10 per dog per night if I am watching overnight. $15 per visit. $8 an hour if I am staying for a set amount of hours or watching your animal at my home for a set amount of hours with a $15 minimum visit fee. Cat fees for overnight stays are: $10 for one cat per night, $15 for two per night, and three cats or more are $7 per cat per night.
If an animal is boarding at my home I do request that they're food and crate be brought with them; cats will need their food and at least one litter box and a towel or blanket from home (cats love their own scent, and it lessens their stress!)
