Specialist in endodontics (root canal therapy) providing a variety sedation services for persons who avoid dental care due to fear and anxiety.
Dr. Montagnese has over 30 years of experience as an endodontist (root canal therapy specialist) and has been providing a variety of sedation services for over 20 years. He is one of the few endodontists qualified to provide a moderate level of sedation by various methods to help persons who find it difficult or impossible to tolerate dental care because of fear, anxiety, gagging, special needs, medical conditions, and other reasons.
He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Endodontics at the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, where he teaches the graduate endodontic residents. He is the originator and Course Director of the Intravenous Sedation course for graduate endodontic stiudents. He oversees the provision of sedation and endodontic therapies in the Graduate Endodontic Clinic at the School of Dental Medicine.
He has published several articles on sedation in well-respected professional journals and serves as a thesis adviser for graduate students in the advanced endodontic program.
Dr. Montagnese attended the University of Cincinnati for his pre-dentistry education and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery, Master of Science degrees, and Certificate in Endodontics from The Ohio State University. He did his training for moderate sedation at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton Ohio.
Dr. Montagnese served in the United States Navy Dental Corps at the U.S. Naval Station, Subic Bay, Republic of the Phillipines.
