Just going to get to the point, the staff was very unprofessional and didn’t seem to care about anything as they were laughing and hanging out more than checking on their patients and tending to their needs. I would rather drive the extra 15 minutes to another hospital than to drive 3 minutes from my house to this emergency room. Staff seemed very under qualified for the job. For example, one of the nurses struggled getting an IV in me and was visibly frustrated and the doctor didn’t seem to care about any previous health issues I’ve had in the past related to my visit. Go elsewhere, please, your life depends on it.
I wanted to review this place and warn people to stay away!! I had a horrible experience here on August 11. I brought my 85 yr old Mother here after being diagnosed with Covid at her doctors. She did not feel that bad, just cough. He heart rate was high, only because she did not take her meds that morning. They should have asked. Anyway, the nurses were all very rude, with exception of the radiology nurse, Emma, I believe. She was so kind and amazing! They did every test on my Mom, and thank God all came out fine! She started feeling good after steroid and taking her meds and wanted to go home. The doctor, Dr. Knutson, was extremely rude and would not even talk to my Mom?? He said my Mom was old and feeble. All he wanted to do is admit her to hospital??? I kept asking why?? All tests came back fine? I would stay with her a couple days? He was adamant! Also, right away wanted to give her REMDESIVIR!!!!! Why??? He just snapped back and said, that is Covid protocol!!! I said absolutely NO, after knowing it makes your kidneys and organs shut down!!! We were there for 8 hours!!!! He was so rude and said, fine, I will have to sign her out against his wishes and he said, don’t worry, she’ll get worse, and you’ll be back! Thank the Lord, she did perfectly fine! She rested at home and felt great!!! Better the next day!!! I would drive out of my way, then to ever go back to this place!!! I wonder if this isn’t ALL ABOUT THE $$$$$$$$$$$$$ BEWARE!!!!!!
We are so grateful for this facility. On two occasions within the last three to four months, we have had to use the Malbis ER for two different family members. The entire team of medical providers were professional, kind, and welcoming. Today, they went above and beyond for our youngest child and they were dedicated in their investigative process of ruling out every possible cause of emergency medical need. Every hour spent there was worth it, regardless of how tired we may have been when we left. The providers do this thanklessly each day. We are so appreciative for hearts of those that serve in the medical field and we hope that more community members will take a quick moment to recognize the cleanliness, the convenience and the professionalism of Malbis Emergency. The more affirmation we offer, the more we will fill their empty tanks after long hours of caring for the Ill, the injured and even the verbally combative patients. Thank you, Malbis Faculty and Staff!
I was referred to an emergency room by my primary care physician after reporting my symptoms to the nurse. Faint like symptoms, SOB, chest pain, right sided head pain, a severe headache, profusely sweating, nausea, difficult time communicating, chills and lightheadedness. Due to my significant and complex past medical history of sepsis, chronic UTI’s and bladder infections including IC, AVM’s, pudendal neuralgia, genitofemoral and ililiolingual neuralgia’s and gynecological abnormalities from multiple assaults with significant injuries by a local OBGYN. I registered around 3:30 pm. The nurse performed an EKG and sent me back to the waiting room. Still feeling lightheaded and extremely nauseous, I went into the bathroom and vomited for about seven minutes or so. I walked out and told the intake secretary that I’m extremely nauseous and lightheaded, feeling as if I’m about to pass out and didn’t want to tie up the bathrooms in case other patients needed to use the facilities. I asked her politely if she could please give me something for the nausea as I did not want to be vomiting in front of all the patients waiting in the emergency room. She responded rudely and told me “we are so busy. No I cannot!” I then grabbed a mask and out of respect for the elderly and many young and older individuals in the waiting room, I stepped outside to the right beside the sliding doors to warm up and settle my nausea. After some time, I went back in the waiting room and sat for an additional 35 minutes or so still nauseous, lightheaded, etc…The intake nurse opened the door and said, “We took you off the waiting list and you will need to re-register meanwhile many additional patients had come into the ER during this time. I responded by saying, “why?” Her response was we asked the patients in the waiting room and they said you left the building off the premise so we had to take your name off the list. First off, the nurse is a LIAR. Pull the video recording to see if I left the premise as I did not and was sitting to the right of the sliding glass door the entire time in fear of infecting the room full of elderly patients in the ER and potential Covid. She advised that I needed to re-register. I explained to her that if she was aware that my PCP advised that I come to the ER due to my complex medical history and the symptoms I were presenting. So, on a better, note, if I could score a ZERO, it would be well deserved from the nurse, to the MA to the front desk intake folks. I have never in my life witnessed such cold and in-compassionate medial professionals in my entire life like those at the stand alone ER at Malbis. Here you have a patient that was assaulted by one of their OBGYN’s multiple times under sedation during a diagnostic laparoscopy in 2016 with a repeated assault in the OBGYN’s office and you have deceitful medical professionals trying to cover these assaults. Your behaviors at this hospital and Thomas hospital are mortifying and disgusting. Your behaviors and the way you disrespect patients, your lack of compassion when a patient comes to the ER presenting significant symptoms as mine considering my past medical history and being referred by my PCP. I’m sure NoNE of this will be documented either just like both assaults by the OBGYN. Your emergency room declined treatment to a patient with a complex medical history from the injuries resulting from one of your physician’s. Y’all are probably as low as it gets. Do not recommend ever!!!
if i could give no stars i would .. the rudest, most unprofessional, uncaring medical staff we have ever encountered. went in with a gushing bleeding wound that most definitely needed immediate medical attention... alerted staff ... put us in a room , 2 hours and nothing , not even a damn bandage & not one staff even looked at the wound . walked out , went across to the eastern shore urgent care and received immediate attention...save yourself the aggravation & if you need immediate medical attention, Do Not Go to the Malbis Thomas ER ... staff is too busy socializing to give two flips about patients.
Thank you to Dr. Watterson and the nurses/professional staff at Malbis E.R. They made what could have been a very unpleasant experience almost fun for our toddler granddaughter. She had her first emergency room visit because of a fall/head laceration. Their professionalism and compassionate care made our experience as good as it could have been under the circumstances. We appreciate you all and are grateful you’re in our area!
This place was just awful and incredibly uninformative. I wasnt sure if I was going into labor or having Braxton hicks and the Dr literally said "ya probably". That's all. Probably what?! Also the nurse bruised my arm from using too big of an IV needle, when I left my arm was severely swollen. Go anywhere else if you care about your health...because these people don't give a shhh.
I was scheduled to have an MRI on last evening, 6/5/2023. I would like to personally recognize the Radiologist Randy for going above and beyond with my test. He was very professional and explained each step completely. I was very apprehensive because in 2012 I had a severe unexpected allergic reaction to the contrast dye used for a CT scan. Randy assured me that I would be fine since the dye used for the MRI was not iodinated. As a precautionary measure, my Dr. had prescribed a regimen of Prednisone and a benadryl which I took prior to my arrival. Thank you Randy for all you did to make me confident and comfortable which assured a successful MRI test. Paul D Roberts Semmes, AL
Fantastic service from a great staff. I loved "Kristin" the nurse. She was very friendly and made me feel at ease. On staff Doc was very nice and efficient. Highly recommend!
Staff was friendly. I thought I had strep throat and went in for a visit. They found nothing wrong, neg for strep, neg for covid so I left after an hour. I was sent a bill for $260 which was paid in full and 2 months later received a bill that had been sent to the collection agency for $680. Collection agency says it was my visit with the ER Dr. So beware when the doctor peeks his head in your room and says “Hi im dr…” and walks out. Thats them charging you $680 for that “hello” just to be able to bill you.
