Thompson’s Moving and Storage is 100% owned and operated by Nova Scotians. It has been in continuous business since its founding by Clarence Thompson in 1934. Today it is proudly owned and operating by the Flemming family. We have 80 years’ experience in the moving industry, and have provide moving services to over 2,000 families and companies every year. We own three warehouses, and have a fleet of modern tractor trailers, straight trucks, tail lifts, and pack vans to meet any moving challenge.

As a going concern we are a registered business in Nova Scotia. We are a member of the Nova Scotia Safety Council and are in good standing with the Worker’s Compensation Bureau of Nova Scotia. We comply with all rules, laws, regulations, and bylaws governing Nova Scotia.

Look no further, here is your reliable moving Company! Go ahead and hire them! I have had extremely unpleasant experiences with moving companies, such as missing items, extra charges upon delivery not previously agreed or specified, etc. Unfortunately, there’s no regulation about moving companies and taking legal actions is almost not a option. When I had to move across Canada again, I looked for the ones with better reviews. The ones with excellent reviews are way overpriced. Luckily, I came across THOMPSONS Moving & Storage. Good enough reviews and quote fair enough for me. I decided to go ahead and hire them to move my furniture and belongings from Halifax NS to Vancouver BC. They scheduled a day and time for pick up. Professional manners and quick service on the day of pick up. Once my furniture and belongs arrived in Vancouver BC, nothing was missing, but 2 furniture dresser and tv stand broken. See attached pictures. It was a bit stressful seen my furniture broken, but I proceeded with the claim. After a week my claim was approved and they paid me the full amount to buy new ones. 100% satisfied with their resolution. That’s why I am writing this review because this time my moving was so smooth, nothing comparable to the previous bad experience I had in the past. Looking at my attached pictures you would think I had a bad experience, but it’s the opposite. Overall, you are looking at a reliable company, with a fair cost, and great customer service. I recommend this moving company services. I am all set now on my new place, thanks to them!
Worked with Thompson’s Moving & Storage for a short distance move and temporary storage of my things. There was a bit of confusion around the price however this was worked through and resolved professionally. The movers were professional and compassionate throughout. I would recommend them to anyone seeking a trustworthy and quality moving company.
I've worked with these guys for 5 years now and even hired them to move my family and I into our new house! They're careful, honest, professional and they're no slouches either! I trust this company to keep my belongings and property intact and moved on time. If you're after someone to move you, your family or your business, then Thompson's Moving and Storage is a safe bet! Disclaimer: I work here, so I'm a little biased. Still, I think it speaks well to the quality of the place that I both enjoy working here and hired them for my own move.
Moving is very stressful for me but the crew from Thompson's were very personable and professional, putting my mind at ease right away. I was totally flustered on moving day and they were very understanding. They were extremely efficient and very kind. I highly recommend this moving company from management to the virtual assessment to the actual movers. Please consider them for your next move if you're looking for a stress-free, professional experience from a company you can trust.
This was the second time in 2 years that we used Thompsons and sorry to say the quality of the service has deteriorated. We moved less furniture than the first move and it took 3.5 hours longer. Workers were constantly absent, taking breaks and they took 40 minutes to get to us from their start location which is generally a 5 minute drive. The bill was calculated incorrectly which was rectified very quickly by the office receptionist however I have requested to speak with the manager twice and I have had no response. Needless to say we won't be using them in the future. A simple return of my call would have gone a long way.
I had a fantastic experience with this company. They were very professional and courteous. They called to confirm, let me borrow as many boxes as I needed to for $100 deposit returned boxes and got $100 back the next week, phoned to let me know they were running late due to traffic on bridge, but showed up on time nonetheless. They worked super hard and efficiently, packed up all my furniture and wrapped all large items to ensure no damage, and even put my beds back together for me at my request. It took way less time than I anticipated. They were super speedy but careful and safe. There were 3 guys, one was in the moving business for over 30 years !, everyone was friendly and very professional. It took way less time than I anticipated and I would recommend this company without hesitation. :
