In business since 1890, Thompson's Store is the oldest grocery in North Carolina. Next to Ward's Grill on Main Street in Saluda, Thompson's is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m, Monday-Saturday. From May-October, Thompson's also is open on Sundays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Historic Thompson’s Store is the oldest grocery store in North Carolina and has been in business since 1890. This old-timey family business features a full-service meat market – including the famous Charlie's Sage Sausage – a delicious deli section, varied selections of wine, beer and cheese and traditional fresh produce and staple and gourmet food. New lines of healthy foods and imported foods are added weekly. We also have a section featuring official Coon Dog Day merchandise including T-shirts, ball caps, visors and sweatshirts.
