The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO)
The IBO is a nonprofit educational foundation based in Switzerland and offers the Diploma Program for students in the final two years of secondary school, a Middle Years Program (MYP) for students in the 11-16 age range, and the Primary Years Program for students aged 3-12 years. Thornton High School currently offers the IB Diploma Program for 11th and 12th grades and the MYP program for 9th and 10th grades. The program consists of a comprehensive and balanced curriculum with intellectual rigor, high academic standards, and challenging assessments.
The parents group for Thornton High School IB students is an active group created to support Thornton's IB students and staff. There are many opportunities for parental involvement by joining the group. Currently funds are raised solely by parental contribution. In the past, money has been used for student scholarships, assistance toward IB exam fees, providing food and supplies for IB events, help with retreats and field trips, College Support activities for students and parents, faculty appreciation, IB Senior Cords, and IB Junior Pins.
