This is a fun skatepark for vert or street riders. On our visit we had the entire skatepark to ourselves so I had a great opportunity to skate the whole park. In the street section there is a good variety of obstacles in a variety of sizes. The park also features a number of banked turns and a great bowl for vert riders. The large bowl has a variety of depths and is mostly surrounded in coping with the exception of the very useful roll in. It's great to have a roll in because not everyone can drop in and this roll in leads riders into the big bowl with enough speed to cruise every corner of the vert walls and really allows riders to see the flow of the big bowl! We had a great time here =
A lot smaller than photos make it seem. Okay skate park, not a whole lot to write home about and probably won’t be back but it was good to get out of the house. Lots of firework trash left behind by people who don’t know how to clean up after themselves. Located right next to rec center.
The ramps etc are ok..moderate in size, but the place is filthy,.just gross, and there are always kids there fighting, etc, the crowd sucks, just too any kids just there messing stuff..trouble makers Playground: None Restrooms: None Dog-friendliness: No Picnic area: None
Love the skate park. Used to go there everytime since when I was in highschool!
No photos I apologize, but however it's a nicely put together park with a old school feel when you skate it. There is a huge elaborate play park for kids and bathrooms which are semi clean. But watch the weather as it's wide open area and the wind gusts can be gnarly. Other then that enjoy and kill it
Ummm it’s pretty good I guess saw a 5 year old boy stab his grandma and the Same 5 year old was smoking
If there are no kids and toddlers using the skate park as a daycare facility it is a great place to ride. Good variety of features and styles. It is a no peg park. There is a covered parabola. I do remember there being a drinking fountain and a power outlet under the parabola. I like how the park is surrounded with nice grace. Nice and easy parking.
Trail Winds Skatepark is another great park in Thornton. This one is about 10 minutes away from Margaret Carpenter Skatepark and was built around the same time, 2012. Trail Winds has a more versatile layout featuring a good mix of street and transition. The bowl is really fun and it has a bunch of options. Right next to that is an open street section with a great flow. There are a few rails and ledges with some banks to help maintain speed. I definitely recommend this park. I wish it had some more shade / seating. Plus, Thornton needs lights at all of their parks!
While the skate park is awesome, the kids that go there are snotty, foul mouthed, and obnoxious. We have been there twice and had the same experience both times. I have 5 and 6 year old boys and they love to do tricks on their scooters and bikes and they are made to feel like imposters at this skate park. As a parent, I wish the city could afford security and/or regulators at these open spaces.
Fun skatepark, good variety for the size just nothing really big. We usually have a good time but early evening between 3pm-6pm during the week there are so many young kids on bikes and scooters so not much understanding of curtousy, always in the way if you're trying to actually skate without slamming children....overall good skate park though
