I love my therapist he has helped me a lot. Though, the billing system needs to be more responsible. When I first came to thrive works they needed a card on file for fees/copays which is fine, I gave them my debt card as I didn’t have my health savings card on me at the time. Called back a few weeks later when I remembered and gave them the health savings card. I had missed a appointment and charged $135 again, that’s fine it was my fault that it was missed. But the problem was they charged the wrong card. So I called them the same day and told them the issue and then they charged the right card the $135 and said I’ll get my refund back in 7-10 business days which is fine. Waited, still no refund I’ve called several times and there was a issue so they will send a paper check it’s been a month and still no check. I’ve called, my bank has called NOTHING. They couldnt give us a check number or any proof of it on the way or even done. So initially I have paid $270 for a mistake they made.
Felt really comfortable talking to Renee made me feel like I have known her for years. Can’t wait to chat with her again next week.
I got dropped by my therapist of 1 year with no warning. She left the practice and thriveworks would not tell me where she went or give me and new recommendations. Thriveworks notified me the day of my appointment that she was gone. This is extremely unethical and not great for any therapist to do. I tried to contact her in other ways with no response. thriveworks is not a reliable therapy. I will never come here again
The counseling process is excellent and has been very beneficial to both my wife and now me. The counselor provides lots of resources.
This review really should be broken down into two separate ratings. The first should be the counseling and the second the billing. The counseling for my family member has been very good. They report positive experiences and have developed a rapport with their counselor. The billing portion, however, is awful. First, you are required to sign up for the $39/month "membership." There is not an option to opt out when registering. Second, to cancel the membership, you have to call a number - you cannot simply cancel when you log into your account. When you do call, they transfer your to two or three different people and leave you on hold for 10 minutes or so, hoping you'll hang up and forget about it. Thirdly, they were billing my minor child for the sessions, not the parents. However, they did bill us for the monthly membership fee. It took nearly an hour on the phone with four different representatives to get everything sorted out. Thriveworks is a nationwide operation, so you cannot speak to someone local about billing issues and the clinicians don't have anything to do with it. In summary, the counseling appears to be good, but the administrative and billing side of things is very poorly run. I will say that the fourth person we talked to, Michelle, was very helpful and took care of all of the issues we present her.
Darian Although I have not seen Darian at Thriveworks I am familiar with her clinical work. She cares about the consumers she serves and she provides ethical, professional care.
After a glitch at the beginning, where I was overcharged on my co-pay, everything balanced out. I’m doing fine with my counselor and medication was phoned in like it was supposed to be.
“Happy healthy lives” That is the promise you get with Thriveworks. What they don’t tell you is that they won’t treat you if you require intense care. Both providers I had seen through Thriveworks told me in 2 sessions or less that I require too much care and that I need to see someone else in another practice. They charge a borderline predatory fee 99$ if you miss an appointment or don’t cancel in their “flexible” cancellation policy of 23.5 hours. If something comes up for you that you can’t make it and you don’t know until that morning, you’re just out 99$. It’s extremely difficult to attend appointments because they only notify you twice, once for an appointment reminder days before your appointment and once 24 hours ahead of your appointment by way of appointment link. When told that I need to see someone in person for better management of my mental health, nobody could refer me to anyone in the Radford/Blacksburg/Christiansburg area despite having an office in Blacksburg. The only people they could refer me to was in the Richmond area, and I was told to go through my insurance to find a provider for myself. I think the providers genuinely want to help but work for a company that has sketchy policies at best.
Ashley is an amazing clinician! As a colleague, I have seen her go above and beyond for her clients. She is genuine and professional and can put anyone at ease. She is a deep thinker and puts a tremendous amount of care into her clinical assessment and treatment approaches. She is a wealth of knowledge and someone I turn to for case consultation regularly. I couldn't recommend her enough!
Counselor is very personable and makes it easy to discuss dificult topics.
