I used to go here as a kid on the weekends. Just made a visit today, last time was 1992 for me. We went for the Alex Walker collection. I hope there will be serious funding or fund drive initiated . Some of the exhibits are in need of preservation work. I was a little dissapointed that some fragile items are available to be touched directly and I wish that the staff would make an effort to secure these items. The memory book in the ww2 shrine area should not be on display where the public could touch it. This book should be shown by appointment as it has original ww2 service photos. For the most part it is still a great museum.
Historical museums in small cities and small towns seem to often have a whole lot more of one type of exhibit e.g. farm tools than the other types. This is a nice museum that seemed to balance all the areas. They have Basement: old farm equipment, cars, fire fighting, logging, kitchen gadgets, musical instruments, and more Main floor: pioneer settlers and native people, and military 2nd floor: mostly taxidermy birds and animals, rocks & minerals, Victorian bedroom, and Abe Lincoln Their exhibit labels were short, but nearly everything had one. In January 2023 it was $5 seniors, $7 adults, and they had a discount for kids but I didn’t notice what it was.
I highly recommend visiting this museum! The front desk worker was very kind, she answered the many questions I had about the museum. This place is packed full of Oregon history and is displayed in a way that keeps you wondering what you’re going to see next.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$6–10
My husband loves museums! This one in Tillamook is one of the best we have been to. The displays were very well arranged with some thought put into it. There are stairs to climb so it isn’t for everyone. If you enjoy museums you will definitely like this one.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
A great regional museum featuring the history of the North Oregon Coast. The museum has three floors featuring natural history, Native American, military, transportation, and the pioneer life. The second floor on natural history feature dioramas of North American wildlife including birds, grizzly bears, deer and many other animals A large collection of seashells are also on this floor. A Pioneer cabin and barn, a tree stump house and local history of the Coastal Native Americans are some of the highlights on the first floor. The basement has a stage coach, a cedar canoe from the local Tillamook tribe, a harness shop from the early 1900's and a fire lookout station. Located in the old county courthouse on Second Street near the junction of Highway 6 and Highway 101 in Tillamook. A great museum to learn about the local coastal tribes and the Pioneer way of life with a number of interesting collections and exhibits on a wide range of subjects.
Great place to go with the kids. I would definitely go again. Price is good to get in. Should have done this sooner. They also have a blackout bingo for the kids to find items throughout the museum. It was fun.Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$6–10
We needed a break from driving and got very lucky stumbling into this museum. It was full of interesting artifacts covering a wide range of life and history. Many of the displays weren't just a brief description either. There was a lot of educational material and commentary. The people who put these things together did a great job. We actually had to pull ourselves away as we needed to get back on the road. A quick or long stop here would definitely be worth it.
Pretty incredible museum for such a small town. Very interesting, I spent much more time in here than I thought I was going to.
Very sweet people there. Always beautiful to look at history of our home. They have a bingo for the kids. And not expensive to visit.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
