Indianapolis-based nonprofit that works to expand access to healthcare, while empowering students and medical volunteers to engage in global development.
The Boston College chapter is involved with the Timmy Global Health international partner, Pop Wuj (a Spanish school and Medical Clinic), in Xela, Guatemala. As volunteers, we set up clinics at Pop Wuj and in various rural villages each day of the week, and aid the medical professionals, nurses, and pharmacists in Triaging patients, shadowing physicians, filling prescriptions, keeping patient records, and controlling the crowd/entertaining children. We are able to learn through first-hand observations the harsh living environments, lack of healthcare, and health-related disparities in this beautiful country.
We understand that reaching out locally is just as important and international aid. We are hoping to partner with local clinics in the Boston area for our Timmy members to volunteer at, get medically related experience, an support local healthcare as well as advocate for global healthcare.
While we are advocates of Global Health, and our trips are medical brigades, attracting many pre-med/pre-health students, we are also an organization that fosters global awareness and humanitarian values by empowering all student to actively engage in global development. You do not have to be a pre-med/pre-health/nursing student to join us in this mission!!!
Help us support Pop Wuj's Efforts and join Timmy Global Health at Boston College!
