Our goal as the BU chapter of Timmy Global Health is to expand the impact BU students have on under-served populations around Boston and the world.
TIMMY Global Health started as a grassroots non-profit in 1997 and has since grown to a national organization with 40 college chapters and reaches out to medical professionals across the country. It aims to take a two pronged approach on battling health disparities locally and internationally. As a college chapter, we are assigned a partner organization that depends on TIMMY to provide funding for its programming. These partner organizations range from an under stocked public hospital in Archidona, Ecuador to a fair-trade banana cooperative in the Dominican Republic that provides primary health care and education in areas where their employees live.
Our goal as the BU chapter of TIMMY Global Health is to expand the impact BU students have on under-served populations around Boston through local community health centers. There is also a possibility of traveling internationally to areas that in desperate need of health care, in order to expand the impact we have.
Timmy Global Health expands access to healthcare and empowers students and volunteers to tackle today’s most pressing global health challenges. To achieve this goal, Timmy sends medical service teams to support the work of international partner organizations and channels financial, medical, and human resources to community based health and development projects. Through our work, we strive to empower volunteers to lead the fight for global health equity and help deliver the promise of a healthy future – one patient at a time.
