Toast Kitchen + Bakery

Description

Restaurant

"After taking over the iconic Golden Truffle location, Toast Kitchen & Bakery opened its doors in Costa Mesa in 2018. But before then we started as a pie pop up called Five Loaves where 100% of proceeds would go to local non-profits. While we strive for excellence in our food and service, our first commitment has been and will always be to our community. From our hiring practices to our work with local non-profits and churches we always prioritize people over profits."

We got the fried chicken waffle, pork belly, Ube toast, and grilled avocado salad. The food was nicely presented, but was very mid. The waffle and toast were not flavorful, and the waffle was especially soggy. The pork belly was also very bland, with the rice being very soggy too. The avocado salad however was good, but portion was very small. The service was pretty good, but we did find a few items that made the dining experience less than satisfactory. There was white hair in the food and the cups used for water were rusted. Upon asking the waiter, they said that the cups have been rusted for 5 years now, with the owners aware. And yet they have not changed them. Overall the experience was very mediocre. It was not really worth the hour wait for the table. I would look elsewhere for a brunch place. Parking: Kinda hard to find parking. But if you wait long enough, there is bound to be one or two spots.
This place is honestly my favorite place in Irvine. I come to toast every month and grab the Thai chilaquiles and a vanilla latte because it always gets better! Flavor and delivery is stellar and waitresses are cool people! Highly recommended tbhRecommended dishesPork Belly Rice Bowl, Thai Chile Chilaquiles, Sisig Burrito, Ube French Toast, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Short Stack, Berry Shortcake French ToastParking spaceSomewhat difficult to find parkingParking optionsFree parking lot
Breakfast was good. No wait time, probably because we were the first one there on a Sunday morning. The staff was very attentive and full of energy. Love all their vibes. I was skeptical about the Thai chilaquiles but it was actually good. You can taste the flavor and the chips were fresh. Of course i had the mimosa and it was delicious, it's hard to ruin a mimosa. ‍. My husband ordered the french toast and he loved it! He is more of a sweet kind of person and the french toast hit the spot. I wouldn't recommend the hash brown. It was very crunchy and Oily. Almost like you taken a bite of oil. Did not sit well with my stomach. This place is great for a a quick bite, since the service was fast and efficient.
I had the ube french toast and quiche which were amazing. I loved the mandarin salad that came with the quiche. The passion fruit lavender soda was good but I would pass on lattes as it was nothing special.Recommended dishesUbe French Toast
Parking is a bit tough but we got lucky and got a spot nearby. Also Google Maps took me to the back of the restaurant. Checked in and the employee said the wait was 30 minutes and it was actually 37 minutes so it was solid estimating. We ordered the Ube French Toast, Ginger Peach soda and Sisig Burrito. I really liked the Sisig burrito, had great crunch with the chicharron but nice soft pork belly. Ube French Toast had the right amount of sweetness and the Ginger Peach was nice.
Delicious, fresh baked bread for us to try was awesome. The location couldn't be better, but be ready to wait unless you're here early.Food: 5/5
7/29/2023 Been back a couple times and really enjoy this place. Our server was great and I liked my BLT Sandwich a lot. I had the hibiscus blueberry soda too. The trick is to drink with a straw after serving as the sweet tastes sink to the bottom. I'm sure I'll be back in the future. Original Post Server was really nice and the place is very popular. We had a 90 minute wait for four. The passion fruit lavender soda was interesting and tasty, bacon smash burger was good. I would have liked to try a pie but I've been eating so much on my trip, do next time. I would go back.
Delicious!! I would recommend coming with some friends so you can share food because there are lots of good things on the menu. On a Thursday morning, there wasn’t a wait for the table. We ordered the Ube French Toast, Fried Chicken and Waffle, and Sisig Burrito. I prefer savoury breakfast foods so for me, the burrito was the best, but I definitely enjoyed a few bites of the French toast for dessert. I also tried the cucumber chia seed limeade. Very refreshing!
We hoped the hype and reviews lived up to expectations but sadly fell short on many aspects. There was a wait to get in which for the reviews was a good sign. The vibe is ok there but it is very loud and busy. Rusty metal cups were a little concerning. The waiter was not patient and seemed to care more about pushing people through than the quality of the service. We ordered the chicken waffle and avocado salad. The waffle was good but the chicken was overcooked and not not tasty. The salad was very small for the price more like an appetizer but it was pretty good. Overall, I would say the food is not worth the price and the service leaves more to be desired.
Amazing food. Comfort food upscaled in flavor. We shard several dishes and I would suggest this. The Nashville hot chicken is not that hot and tastes amazing! The BLT wow. The bacon delicious and is the most unique BLT I've had. French toast that is devine and hash browns that are like the French fries of breakfast a must have. Great Carmel latte and coffee. A must visit spot. The wait was pretty bad to get in 50 min w reservation. Parking: Very bad parking situation
