Tokyo Tea House

First, I thought they were a little over priced $7 for basic rolls i.e. Philly, Alaskan... however, they were descent rolls. They didn't fall apart and I actually finished my food. Overall, I would say they are an OK place to go for sushi... not the best there is, but definitely one of the better places to go around here.

As a newbie to the area our first instinct is to ask a few locals for recommendations. Every person asked would mention this place, regardless what type of cuisine we asked about. If we asked for an Italian place they'd give us a name, but then excitedly mention "If you're looking for good Japanese food, you have to try Tokyo Tea House". After a few of these responses, we knew where to go, even if we were originally thinking italian, lol. So we decided we'd go there on Valentines day. We sat at the counter facing the sushi station. Given our high standards for asian food we were still a bit skeptical until our first course came. We expected a very basic, no frills plate of food, but the presentation was beautiful. Everything was garnished, and a nice indication of what was to come. The food was delicious, and we were happy with everything we ordered. I unfortunately have to rate the service as poor-fair because we were sitting for some time before the waitress came over for our order. Then when our food came out it came out quickly, but with some dishes missing. We assumed this was intentional at first, but after 15min our waitress brought us the check. I'd only had appetizers at that point. My husband had half his meal. We said we'd wait for the rest but after another 10min the chef still hadnt started making the dishes we were missing. We only knew this because being that we were so close to the chef's area and the kitchen we heard the owner reprimand the chef. It was comforting to know that this level of service was not up to par with her standards, but it was also mildy awkward that she was making a scene by scolding her employees. She did this with the waitress too. It's great to know she cares so much about her customers, she clearly runs a tight ship, it's just a little unprofessional to demean your employees in front of the public. I chalk it up to a bad night, and I'll go there again, and again. The food is worth it. If you're from NY and consider yourself a foodie, then this is as good as you'll find in this area of the Poconos.
