Tony Troy was born in Liverpool, England, went to boarding school in Devon, then attended London University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Physics. With little ambition for the world of science, Mr. Troy bounced from one job to the next, until one day when he came across a group of street artist drawing portraits of tourists. Captivated, Mr. Troy paused to exchange words with one of the artists and share his dream of becoming an artist himself. Suddenly, the portraitist looked at his watch then hurried away, expressing the need to catch an evening flight to South Africa. “What about your gear?” Mr. Troy called out. The gear in question included two stools, a fine trestled easel, and numerous pencils and paper. “Too heavy to take on the plane, Mate,” the street artist yelled back. “Tell you what … since you dream of being an artist, it’s all yours!” So began a long and successful career in the arts.
To date, Mr. Troy has been featured at art shows in London, Paris, Rome, Copenhagen, and the United States. His portraits have been hung at The Royal Society of Portrait Painters and The Pastel Society in London. In addition, Mr. Troy is an accomplished musician and playwright. His first musical, The Flute Player’s Song, was successfully produced. The show was recorded and CDs are available at his website. Presently, Mr. Troy is seeking to take his musical to Broadway, and he continues to write music that inspires the body, mind, and spirit.
