BLUF: the main dinning area is a big, open, well decorated lodge environment which allows for no dissipation of sound. BUT the friendly service, excellent food and overall experience makes up for overly boisterous customers. Loads of space and no problem getting a table and our server Sean just made our evening. Polite and full of suggestions and recommendations. We got a dozen oysters on the half shell, a cup of crab bisque, and the ravioli and fried trout for dinner. We saved room for dessert too. Looking forward to returning to a truly top notch Clyde’s experience.
I recently dined at this restaurant and had the double Jumbo crab cake with tartar sauce and fries, and it was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was fantastic, with unique decor on the walls and ceiling, including taxidermy animal heads and boats, creating a captivating ambiance. The desserts were delightful, and I must say, the drink selection was excellent as well. My only slight concern was that the double crab cake was a bit pricey for the portion size, so I'd recommend trying a single piece for a more budget-friendly option. Overall, I highly recommend this place for a memorable dining experience.
My go to place for a quiet dinner or to grab a drink without being bothered. The bartenders are very skilled and have probably seen pretty much everything so I like the fact that they don’t stare or judge. I went there in sweatpants as well as dressed up and was treated the same so love that. If you are a steak person go for the ribeye. I personally love fish and they have a great branzino dish. Ask for the seasonal desert - they change it up based on availability.. I loved the peach one no pic but the Apple Bomb was amazing!!
Wonderful ambience for sure! Looks like a very pricey restaurant but it’s affordable. Service was little slow even for the oysters and other dishes. The food was excellent, the roasted fish is my personal favorite, it has burst of flavors and very well cooked up to the mark. Leaves a very pleasant and satisfied experience while leaving the place
Hidden gem in Rockville!! The food was out of this world, and service was the cherry on top, from the hostess to the server, the food runner, everything was just on point. They have different rooms with different ambiances, every detail was well maintained. I am definitely coming back, there a lot of things I wanted to try, each of them looking better than the other one!
Excellent food, no question. Calamari, frittatas, burgers, scones, and cocktails. Especially impressed by the sauces provided. Wait staff was wonderful, but we had to wait a very long time for the check.
Wonderful food for sure , that was the best steak and frites I’ve had ever but unfortunately I can give the 5 stars. The reason is because of the service. This is the second time I come to this location and the service is unpleasant. The waiter had an unpleasant smell of cigarettes ,when he brought us the utensils he accidentally dropped the knife, instead of picking it up he simply kicked the knife towards the kitchen. I really wish the service gets better because the food and atmosphere are amazing.
I visited the restaurant today for lunch. Our server was friendly and helped us with all the questions we had. Clyde's is a restaurant that is a bit on the pricier side versus typical restaurants in the area. However, the food quality more than makes up for it. We started with the Mozzarella Arancini Stuffed Rice Balls appetizer. The appetizer was great: the cheese and rice combo with a slightly crisp outer layer shell brought the appetizer together. Next, we had the Rigatoni alla Norma and this pork sandwich that was stuffed with a good cut of meat with Parmesan Fries. They nailed the food for the entrées as well. The Rigatoni was freshly made. Portion was a bit on the smaller side for this, but it didn't bother me too much because we made this visit a three-course meal. The pork sandwich was a hit. Fries were awesome. Well crisped. Finally, we finished with dessert: Peanut Butter Pie and a pina colada seasonal cupcake. I loved the peanut butter pie. I didn't really try the cupcake, but I was told it was slightly too sweet. Overall, the experience was fantastic. Honestly, the managers, owner, and wait staff really did an awesome job. I can't wait to return again in a few more days to try some more food.
What an amazing venue to have a family dinner. We had appetizers drinks & dinner and everything was perfect. The Mussel appetizers were delicious, could go there and then for app and dinner!!! Mira our waitress was as very knowledgeable and gave the perfect suggestions. She made our night amazing.
Located within a scenic 21-acre nature preserve in Rockville, Maryland, Clyder's Tower Oaks Lodge Restaurant offers a unique dining premise in a 200-year-old, two-story timber barn that was imported from Vermont. As a member of the Clyde's restaurant family, the establishment features American cuisine and exudes the charm of an old-fashioned saloon. Founded in the summer of 1963, the first Clyde's restaurant opened during the iconic "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington, DC. Now, eighty years later, food enthusiasts like the “Meishilin” group gathered for the first time at Clyder's Tower Oaks Lodge Restaurant to fulfill their dream of savoring gourmet dishes in an enchanting setting. The restaurant's mountain lodge-style architecture and American history-inspired decor contribute to its distinctive ambiance, evoking memories of an upscaled hunting lodge. Arriving at the restaurant amid sudden heavy rains, the natural beauty of the surroundings became even more enchanting. While the Restaurant advertises party rooms for celebrations, they regretfully couldn't accommodate a dinner party of seventeen due to fire code regulations. Consequently, the group had to be seated at two separate tables, which dampened the initial excitement. However, the friendly and attentive waitstaff made up for the inconvenience, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The Happy Hour before 6 pm presented a delightful opportunity to enjoy fresh oysters at half price. While the oysters were of excellent quality, it was disappointing to find them echoing the half-price with half the regular size. In contrast, the Grilled Marinated Octopus proved to be a winning choice, with a perfectly tender and slightly charred texture that earned it an enthusiastic recommendation. Although Clyder's initial mission was to provide patrons with an old-fashioned saloon experience centered around beer, the current beer options appeared limited. Nevertheless, the rEvolution IPA stood out, pleasing the taste buds with its bright revolutionary Red color. Due to our diverse party size, a variety of entrees were ordered, ranging from Trout Parmesan and Steaks & Chops to Icelandic Cod, Spaghetti & Clams, Shrimp Bowl, Alaska Wild Sockeye Salmon, Mediterranean Branzino, and Barbecue Baby Back Ribs. The dishes were presented with fresh ingredients, attractive colors, and reasonable pricing. However, some entrees were slightly overcooked with small size resulting in mixed reviews. Overall, this restaurant offers an enchanting dining experience in a vibrant setting, skillfully blending American tradition with upscale lodge-style ambiance. With an average cost of $50 per person, the restaurant caters to food enthusiasts seeking a memorable culinary experience. A minor point of note is the 3.6% surcharge added to the bill, an unusual sight attributed to inflation, as explained by the staff. Among thirteen out of seventeen people voted, it gives an average score of 3.81+/-0.43 ranged from 3.0 to 4.0.
