About

The Travel Town Museum Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-for-profit organization that works to help support the Travel Town Museum in Griffith Park. The Museum is owned and operated by the City Los Angeles, Department of Recreation & Parks.

Mission

The mission of the Travel Town Museum Foundation is to educate the public about railroad history as it pertains to the development of the Southwest Region of the United States, particularly the Los Angeles area. We fulfill this mission by helping to support the restoration, operation, and interpretation of the historic railroad equipment at the Travel Town Museum.

The Travel Town Museum Foundation supports Travel Town by helping to administer the Museum's volunteer programs, restoration projects and educational outreach efforts. Our programs and activities are funded through grants and donations along with proceeds from our Museum Gift Shop.

Brought a big group of kids, with their parents, for an end of summer field trip. Kids are really thoroughly enjoying all the train cars and being able to interact with some of the train stuff. Great place for train enthusiast young and old.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entryFree
The best thing is that it’s free! The train ride costs $3-4 but the entry to all the outdoor and indoor exhibition is totally free. There are spots where you can give donations too. Great place for family hangouts. It’s very kid-friendly. Some trains were accessible. It took me around 30mins to walk around and probably 1hr if you wanna look carefully into the exhibition and history. Free parking. Very spacious parking lot. The restroom wasn’t that clean. There were some bugs walking around in summer. But cleanliness in other part of the museum was good.
Very nice locomotive displays for children and adults . Parking is free as is the entry. There's a small scale train for children to board and get an overall ride of what it feels like to be a conductor.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Wonderful day trip. Last time I was here I was a child, I have vivid memories of being able to climb all over and inside the trains, since then they have put up a lot of safety precautions. Clean and well maintained. Easy to traverse with strollers. I wish we still had the freedom of my childhood cerca 2000 of the trains being open to climb on/in. However I understood the reasoning for safety and to protect these historical machines from damage. We will be returning
Very nice place. Plenty of parking and it's free. Entrance is also free the train ride is only 4 Dollars adult and 3 for kids. This place is full of history and legends. I'm sure the little ones will love this place as much as my toddler did.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree

Extremely cool spot. Went here for a picnic potluck with a bunch of friends, rode the little train, looked at exhibits, chilled outside. Obviously more meant for little kids but a bunch of dorky adults can also have a good time.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
