I love this place! So clean and organized. Their produce and croissants specifically are amazing!
Excellent Grocery store. Was renovated last year. Love the bakery. Delicious fruit tarts and lemon bars. Nice selection of fresh seafood. The deli has a great variety. Love the Fresh nut peanut, almond, cashew butter machine. A very good international selection of groceries.
Recently updated with newer facilities, including cafe and sitting area. New layout of the items also is an improvement even from a few weeks ago. Does a fairly good job at keeping fresh items stocked for a downtown grocery store. Personally, the student discount is what keeps me coming back.
Good things: 1 They literally have everything and beyond you want from a grocery store which are quite hard to find in other grocery stores. 2 Super friendly staff. Two staffs spent almost 5 mins helping me to locate a product I was looking for. 3 They have a good salad bar and a good collection of wine and food. 4 It's cheaper compared to the other nearby grocery stores like Bockwinkel's and Whole Foods. I did a cost comparison among all these three Bad things: 1 The place kind of looks old. It feels like you are in a 90's place which makes us to think if we are compromising on the quality. Nevertheless, after using the products you don't feel the same.
Prices are a bit higher than you'd find elsewhere but the location is convenient for many and it's a small family chain. Salad bar was my favorite thing here for many years - always tons of tasty options here. Good place to find specialty items as well if they're not available at larger more commercial chains.
Renovations almost finished . Looks fantastic . Great salad bar . Carry a lot of items that are hard to find elsewhere. For example Belgian semi sweet chocolate chips . Ten kinds of international butter . Raspberry FAGE 0% fat yogurt this is the ONLY store in chicago that I can routinely find this type at yeah staff not super friendly but who cares .. floral department is really really well done . Not sure who orders items for their flower shop but they are to be commended on quality and variety. Houseplants live forever and flowers always last a long time,
Customer service is terrible. Bakery empty - had to wait forever until someone showed up. That happened only after we had to ask for it. Person did not even know how to package the cake we bought. All in all- waste of time and no quality. Get more employees and get them trained better
Little pricey but they offer a 10% unadvertised, just happened to be behind someone else who used it student discount with an ID. Can't apply to purchases that include alcohol, though. Good selection of all the standards you expect from a grocery and won't find at Trader Joe's.
Clean, well-organized, and well-lit place where it's a pleasure to visit and shop. Prices are good in comparison to neighborhood. Selection is excellent and wide: store carries some international products. Fresh produce is awesome.
85% of the staff lack the training on how to treat a customer. Two times I have gone to get hot/prepared food and the main lady who serves is one if the rudest people I have ever met. I waited there for five minutes the second time and she just stood there and continued to gossip about her fellow workers. Then when she felt she was ready to take my order she said what do you want. I simply gave my order kindly and she was still rude and made me feel like I was interrupting something important. The man who does the cold food salads, sandwiches, pasta etc, is extremely nice and helpful. Everyone needs to take a class about customers from him. BTW the food was horrible!
