Trinity Christian School (Fairfax, Virginia)

Description

Trinity Christian School is a K-12, independent Christian school centrally located in Fairfax County, serving all of Northern Virginia.Brief historyIn 1987 the vestry of Truro voted unanimously to found Trinity Christian School, with Dr. J.C. Lasmanis named as its first headmaster. Trinity opened its doors to a total of forty-one students from first through third grade, taught by three faculty members in classrooms provided by Truro. In 1990 Dr. Jim Beavers took over the reins as headmaster. During Mr. Beavers' time in office: a 4th and 5th grade were added, a middle and upper school were established, enrollment greatly increased, and the faculty grew. Eventually the school spread to encompass four different campuses in and throughout Fairfax county. In 2001 Trinity named a new headmaster, Dr. Todd Williams, and graduated its first senior class. By this time fifty faculty members served over four hundred students on Trinity's four campuses. Although there had been many advantages for the school in growing so quickly, unity between the different campuses was becoming a problem. Shortly after taking office Dr. Williams made it a top priority to unite all the students onto one main campus. After two years of hard fundraising Trinity proudly opened the doors to its new 25 acre campus facility, located in Fairfax off of Braddock Road next to George Mason University. The new building included a state of the art computer lab, two custom made art rooms, a practice gymnasium, and a science lab. All classes were moved to the new campus. In 2005 Dr. Williams resigned as Trinity's headmaster to accept the vice-presidency of Cairn University (then Philadelphia Biblical University). After much deliberation, the Trinity Christian board of trustees appointed then-teacher Dr. David Vanderpoel as the school’s fourth headmaster. Since taking office, Dr. Vanderpoel has overseen the construction of a second building complete with a gymnasium, a new weight room, a performing arts wing, two science labs, and a kindergarten.

Not only did my two daughters graduate from this school but I am also a staff member. This is the best investment my husband and I made in our children. They were both well prepared for college and their faith became more solid even after they graduated. I also LOVE working here.
We have found a home at Trinity Christian! When we moved to the area I was sure we would have many fantastic choices for Christian high school education, but I did not find that to be true. We were looking for strong integration of Biblical truth throughout the curriculum and the lives of the faculty and staff, excellent academics that could meet or exceed the already high-standard of Northern Virginia, a full complement of activities and sports, caring faculty and administration, and a beautiful campus to serve as a respite of the "crazy busy" of this area. But as we searched for options, only one school throughout this busy area could meet these standards- Trinity. Our children are academically ahead of their local peers, and are learning to live and breathe their faith as well. Other qualities I love about Trinity: integration of K-12 on one campus, beautiful facilities, sports starting in 6th grade but that you can join as a more novice player, many opportunities for new students and parents to become part of the Trinity family, the Capstone Thesis students complete in their senior year and defend orally, the strong record of student admittance into top universities and colleges, "perfect" class sizes- graduating around 70 students per year, excellent college advising, a full slate of fine and performing arts offerings, and the opportunity to openly pray with your classmates and teachers. What a gift and blessing!
I've been at tcs for 4 years and so far, it's been great. Yes, they are a little bit strict on the dress code and they're a little expensive, but I can definetly see how God is working in the school. It's really great. Although it does have some things it does need to work out, it really is a good school plus, what school doesn't have its problems??? So why are we to judge this one?
Great in academics and christian education. We have known the school for 11 years and we have been always happy with the teachers and staff. Beautiful facilities.
I could not ask for a better place for my kids to grow up in. The school, staff, environment and spirit is so beautiful that every time I visit I cry out of joy and of thankfulness to God for allowing us to be part of this beautiful Trinity Family. We absolutely love it! We feel bless to have our kids there! Trinity!
LESS than 1 star. Your school administrators are DISGUSTING in telling an 8 year old CHILD she is not fit for your Christian teachings because for one, her hair is too short. Such HYPOCRISY in Jesus' teachings of compassion, empathy and most of all LOVE! No wonder people are turned off to religion! You should be ASHAMED of yourselves!!
Excellent school with caring teachers, challenging academics, and wonderful families. We have been very happy here!
Best school so far
