Some Ace Hardware stores are way too helpful I'm looking at you Maple Leaf but this store is much more comfortable. If you need help they're there, but they'll let you shop unbothered which is what I want. This location also has a weird but cool mix of stuff like: crab pots, a deli, a Dept of Licensing desk, seasonal goods, booze, handmade soap and boating equipment. This is my Ace :
i Love Ace Hardware. i am not, however used to them carrying groceries. I got a great set of drill bits at an attractive price.
Gosh, I love Edmonds and I like having a hardware store in my home town but the return policy and customer service at this Ace is terrible. Compare to one of the box stores: you bring an item back, no receipt? No problem, they look up on your credit card. Don’t have the card? No problem they give you store credit. Here at Ace they couldn’t find my purchase using my phone number. Ok, I guess I didn’t give my number when I bought it. Can you look it up by my card? Oh, well come back later and talk to the manager. Um, Ok, my time isn’t valuable. So I came back later. Sarah, the manager was too busy to come out of the back room to talk to me in person, she sent out a message with the clerk. They can’t look it up with my credit card and they won’t give me store credit - on an ACE-branded product! Sorry Ace, the box stores are only a five minute extra drive.
Great small town local store feel. Super friendly staff.
Super nice/helpful staff. Great store in downtown Edmonds for hardware and quick purchase items.
ACE HARDWARE ON 5th Ave in Downtown Edmonds. If you are new to town or just have not had cause to enter our little hardware, grocery, deli, license location make a point to do it. First I was greeted by customers in the parking lot wishing me a great day. Upon entering the store my shopping experience was seamless from entry to check-out. Staff met me in the aisle with kind words and well wishes. Placing my order at the deli was both novel and refreshing. My order was promptly completed quickly. Several other customers waiting for their sandwich found it comfortable to strike up a conversation around enjoying visiting the store for various reasons. It reminded me of a good small town one stop shop, That is what we have in our ACE HARDWARE. I truly suggest that you visit and enjoy at least a sandwich from the deli. What a delightful treat
Staff and management were highly disrespectful when I had a minor medical problem that solely required using a bathroom due to a medical device not functioning properly which was only brought up after I asked where the bathroom was and if I could use it. I was not even confrontational or argumentative. I really only asked if there was a bathroom I could use before I went shopping, they asked me why not appropriate, so I told them. They actually told me I shouldn't leave home if I have problems. I would have left a review sooner, but I was embarrassed and not sure what to say after being treated the way I was. The way Edmonds Ace treated me was absolutely terrible, I will never shop there again.
Went in to purchase some washers and was promptly told by the cashier that he could not look up the product number which appeared on the barcode label in the product bin and I would have to go back and find the price myself to be able to purchase the washers. Not worth the headache! No attempt at any customer service. Simple laziness… The parts they have are sub par quality anyway. Ace isn’t a hardware store. They are a convenience store that happens to sell some hardware.
I think they have a better selection than home Depot or Lowes, they also have groceries, a deli, and license renewal. Everything you need all in one place.
I’ve had excellent service at this Ace hardware in the past from individuals who knew hardware and had the ability to listen to the customers’ description of a problem and come up with practical solutions. Those ”MacGyver” types are the jewels in any hardware store’s crown — and the reason why we love small town hardware stores and keep going back. But the woman who opened the store yesterday on Saturday was dour and rude. I made no comment — I just observed her self-sabotaging behavior, quietly paid, and left... and did the rest of my shopping that day at Lowe’s. Not everyone’s a MacGyver — but at least try — or, at minimum, find a way to be useful and charming enough to not be a net drain on the operation. I felt sorry, too, for the young lad she was browbeating — just another observation. But he’ll learn in time that there are better working environments to be had. Great people understand teamwork and that’s what makes any job great. Just hoping the great ones I’ve encountered in the past at this store haven‘t voted with their feet and left. Attitude is important.
