TSO Global Engagement wants to educate students and provide them with resources to wisely vote in the upcoming presidential election. To decide for yourself, see the candidates' websites: www.barackobama.com & www.mittromney.com
The Mission of Global Engagement is to further the spiritual, education, and relational development of the Taylor University community by creating and encouraging programs, initiatives, and awareness pertaining to the global community—from neighborhood to nations—and preparing students to work in a global world, serve as part of the global church body, and have an attitude and mindset to learn from other cultures. Global Engagement affirms that we, the Body of Christ, are called to minister the redemptive love of Christ both locally and regionally as well as to the entire world (“the ends of the earth”). To be “globally engaged” does not assume any particular role of teacher, leader, servant, learner, etc., rather, it infers that we should adopt a faithful attitude in Christ being prepared to learn, think, act, serve, and lead according to His will.
During this season of elections, we believe as Christians we have the responsibility to engage in thoughtful political dialogue. Instead of ignorance and apathy, we advocate for students to deepen their understanding of current issues and learn to disagree in a spirit of convicted civility.
