Toured the State Park which is a battleground and sacred ground for the deceased settlers. The mansion on the property and the park spokesperson were awesome. There were so many artifacts and pictures and other items form that period of time and stories of some of the interesting historical figures of the day.
Small but extremely well kept park where the Kanawha River meets the Ohio in Point Pleasant, WV. Museum is free to explore, the main monument is impressive and the petroglyph is pretty cool, plus there are a few other interesting monuments and nice walkway on the river depicting battle scenes. Huge trees on site, if you are into large and lovely trees .
Cool little park nestled on the banks of a couple of rivers! Come for the views, stay for the history!
Nice walking area along the river with informative historical value. Many statues and murals of historical relevance. Flat trail.
Very nice park! Peaceful and quiet. Nice monuments and grave of Chief Cornstalk.
It was a beautiful park right on the river with an original mansion 2 story log cabinand lots of information on the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.Great for someone that loves history. The whole town of Point Pleasant is filled with history.Enjoy!
Very cool. The smallest state park in WV. Beautiful setting where the Kanawha and Ohio rivers come together. There is a small picnic area and a very small museum. There is an 84' obelisk commemorating the Battle of Point Pleasant in 1774.
This park is small but free. There’s a lot of information about the local history, battles and people who fought in it. There also also great views of the Ohio River and places to sit.
We walked down the river front to see the statues and the murals to the state park. It was about 2 blocks on a gravel path. Bathrooms are on the way to get to the statue and cabin. The cabin free entrance fee was very interesting and chocked full of artifacts. Basement, main level and 2 more floors. Pick up a sticker or hoodie.
Very interesting history here. Lots of facts about the battle and the people who were involved and fought in it. The views of the rivers and bridges are stunning. The monument and log cabin are definitely worth stopping by to check out.
