Corridor H is scheduled to exit into Davis in the fall of 2014. Road construction is unearthing tons of rocks that represent the opportunities and challenges a major highway presents when it intersects with a small, rural mountain town. The Town of Davis, population less than 700, is located in the heart of the Allegheny Mountains. It is a gateway community for Blackwater Falls State Park, Canaan Valley Resort, the Monongahela National Forest and the Potomac Highlands region of West Virginia. Staying true to Tucker County's character, the Boulder Park will create an aesthetically pleasing welcome for those who live here and for those that visit the mountain to escape the confines of city and suburban life.
The Boulder Park is a collaborative project of the Tucker Community Foundation, the Town of Davis, Western Pocahontas Properties, Heart of the Highlands, The Dominion Foundation, corporate and civic stakeholders, local residents, second home owners and visitors to the area. The public park will serve as the trail head for a new section of non-motorized trail that will connect Davis to the proposed WV Division of Highways Rail Trail project. Construction of the trail is contingent upon completion of the Boulder Park and the Rail Trail section that parallels Rt. 93 / Rt. 48.
Donations to the project will help build a permanent endowment to benefit Tucker County Emergency Medical Services (TC EMS FUND).
The Boulder Park will be located in the southeast corner of the Davis Ballpark close to the Corridor H exit into Davis and visible from Rt. 32. The property for the ballpark was donated to the Town of Davis for recreational purposes by Western Pocahontas Properties.
The mission of this community enhancement project is to build a permanent endowment in support of Tucker County Emergency Medical Services.
