Lose weight, firm up, develop endurance the Marine Corps way. 1-4 mile treks in Tucker and at Stone Mountain, Georgia. Rigorous fitness treks, upper and lower body training, scientific field trips. Body and free weight training.
Rigorous fitness treks, upper and lower body training, lower-intensity scientific field trips, emphasis on 1st Amendment of U.S. Constitution while trekking.
Physical training regimen developed from most efficient and effective aspects of Joe Weider and Universal Bodybuilding fitness courses (body weight and free weight), USMC circuit and obstacle course training, and nearly 40 years of fitness experimentation.
Treks originally developed as scientific field trips for university students and teachers in Dr. Mandock's geophysical science courses, summer research training programs, and summer bridge programs. Scientific field trips cover all aspects of geology, hydrology, and meteorology found along the trails and at venues such as Stone Mountain Park: (1) plate tectonics; (2) mineral and rock identification; (3) igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic processes; (4) geologic measurements with Brunton pocket transit; (5) stream competence, base level, and load transport; (6) laminar, turbulent, and shooting flow; (7) cut bank and point bar; (8) meteorological sensors; (9) atmospheric stability as determined by observations at the top and base of Stone Mountain; (10) cloud identification; (11) current weather and forecast. Treks have proven valuable to elementary, middle school, high school, and university students, as well as to teachers and other adults.
