Wow. Just wow. Beyond frustrating. I saw multiple doctors at this clinic, and I never waited in the waiting room for less than an hour. Despite multiple appointments with multiple providers, I wasn't ever able to get a hip MRI approved by my insurance company and a shoulder MRI required multiple visits and multiple MRI requests. One nurse told me repeatedly that he didn't have time to deal with my insurance problems; and the ordering surgeon himself didn't schedule a peer-to-peer when the first denial came back, so we lost the opportunity for an approval that way. I had to schedule another appointment with that surgeon and wait days for the appointment and then wait forever in the waiting room to get him to order a second MRI, which was also denied. Again, the doctor did not request a peer-to-peer. After seeing another doctor who said to come back after I'd had a hip MRI, I spoke again with the nurse for the hip surgeon, and he told me again he didn't have time to deal with it. I spoke to the office manager repeatedly, and he promised he would make sure the MRI request was submitted properly. But instead of doing that, he simply ignored all of my subsequent emails and phone calls. Working with this clinic has been one of the most stressful, experiences of my life. After weeks with no progress toward treatment, I visited Dr. McNulty at Southern Orthopaedic Specialists, and he got my hip MRI approved within a few days.
Dr. Savoie is one of the best shoulder surgeons in the world. I have been going for over a decade, staff has always been great each and every visit. I cannot imagine someone giving less than a 5 star review but some people just cannot be pleased....Charles Davis
I was seen by Dr. O'brien for surgery following a skiing accident. Through my entire experience Dr. O'Brien, Shannon, and the entire staff were extremely courteous and helpful.
I had an appointment today with Dr. O’Brien I was told to arrive 15 minutes early for my 11:00 am. appointment which I did. At noon after no communication from the staff about why I hadn’t been seen, I asked if there was a problem. I was told there were several people ahead of me and it would be another 20 minutes before the doctor could get around to seeing me. Did the other patients have appointments at 11? Who does the scheduling? I had other appointments today so I couldn’t wait around and I left. After reading the other reviews here, I am glad I did.
Let me start by saying that Dr. O'Brien is a great doctor and helped me with a couple of orthopedic issues previously. That being said, the office staff, ESPECIALLY the worker's comp department is atrociously inept. It was constant mismanagement and no communication to the insurance company or myself. For example, after I was seen, evaluated and treatment was recommended, the office didn't follow up with me, the adjuster or the doctor and thus missed appeal deadlines with the insurance company's review board. It got to the point that the insurance adjuster tried to get me some PT to work around TISM's office. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS FED UP WITH TISM'S INCOMPETENCE!!! After a meeting with the manager, we were assured it was going to get better. Nope. After two weeks of no information after my last exam I called to find out they sent a request for a followup MRI and PT to the wrong adjuster just that previous day. That was the last straw. I know this is a lot of detail, but I wanted to show that this a bad review for bad service, not simply a late appointment. Again, the doctors are good, but the office staff is terrible. Avoid, avoid, avoid, especially if you have a worker's comp case.
Poor experience with this practice. Go somewhere else. Dr. Mary Mulcahey is an awful orthopedic surgeon who is quick to recommend surgery, but has no follow-up up when the unnecessary surgery doesn't help. She spends very little time with patients and is clearly just trying to get through as many patients as possible. Very, very disappointing. Do not use this surgeon. More details: This doctor did an arthroscopic knee surgery for me when now with hindsight, a new MRI, and a new orthopedic surgeon, I believe she shouldn't have done it with the amount of damage there was to my cartilage behind my knee cap. When I went to my follow-up appointment after my surgery, I had a tiny part of my stitch sticking out, both her and the nurse tried to pull it out but had no small tweezers to do it how?!. So even though I said I was uncomfortable, they sent me home to do myself. My knee was actually worse after surgery, and she told me point blank, there's nothing I can do after I had issues post-surgery, and referred me to someone else in her practice. Who also told me there was nothing they could do, after he gave me steroid shots. She's a fast talker and doesn't like to spend time with her patients, it's so clear to me that she is trying to make as much money as possible and get through as many patients as possible. Please, don't go through what I did. Find a different doctor.
I had a Total Elbow Replacement in 2004. In 2017, I started noticing something wasn't right. I saw an orthopedic doctor in Dallas- was suppose to do a revision but did not. A month later my screw came out. I went back to see him. He scheduled me for surgery- lied to me and told me I could use my arm without a prosthesis. I moved to the coast and the VA sent me to Tulane. Dr Obrien was very professional and very nice and told me him and Dr Savoier would set up a plan for my arm. They did an awesome job. The recovery is a slow process but I am doing really good. I am glad I was sent there. The staff- Dot, Shannon and rest have been very nice to me as well.
Visited here 3 times, for 3 appointments and 1 medical screening in total. After waiting more than an hour every visit, the doctor would talk to me for about 90 seconds. Very little concern was shown as to whether my issue Ulner Neuritis had improved or not. The doctor put me on a steroid regime, that didn't do anything. Afterwards, I got an MRI. Eventually they sent me on my way with a compressive sleeve and advice to take B-vitamins. Maybe I should have seen a specialist or something but this was never suggested. My issue still exists, and I will likely have to seek treatment again for it in the near future, but I will certainly not be returning to the Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Felix Savoie is the best orthopedic surgeon in the South and possibly the U.S. or World. Dr. Savoie has replaced both my left and right shoulders. I have a lot of medical issues and have learned find the best and have no doubts that you will heal quickly and completely. I went to him for a second opinion and learned that a reverse shoulder replacement wasn't necessary and it is healing great and at 62 i'm ahead of schedule recovery time for a man half my age. His staff is very friendly and efficient. Can't say enough good things about the WHOLE Team Dr. Savoie has put together!!!! Parking can be a pain, just being honest in this review.
I was referred by my podiatrist to this company w/ hopes that they can assist w/ the numbness that I have been dealing w/ due to one doctor shoving needles into my foot which may have caused nerve damage. In the beginning everything was just fine. The staff was very nice to me esp the front desk lady and the young girl who assist the therapist and wipes down the tables and equipment. Anyway, my podiatrist sent over instructions for things she would like to be done w/ my foot including ultrasounds. I was informed by my therapist that he feels that ultrasounds are a waste of time because "they do nothing and there is no supportive science to even prove that it will help!" Along time he has me using the workout machines and was eve nice enough to allow me, after therapy, to use the arm machine to try toning my arms. Well, on September 7, 2017, My therapist had a mood change. In my eyes he was more stand offish, hardly speaking where as he usually joked around, talked to me about his family, the beach vacation they took this year, etc. Well September 7, this was a different person! And on this particular day, he finally decided that I was going to have the ultrasound that my doctor been ordered! He called the new assistant to handle the ultrasound on my foot. The male assistant asked him, "are you going to stay here to make sure that I am doing this correctly", He hunched his shoulders as if to say it doesn't even matter, and walked away to the office. The therapist, Marc, came back to the table and began his normal "tugging" at my foot, only this time he actually cracked something! I LITERALLY, heard the cracking sound when he did it! It really hurt! I asked him about it and again he brushed it off saying ooh, you'll be okay. Trusting his judgement, I put my shoe back on as I was informed to do and proceeded to the next thing he asked me to do. once I completed that I went to him asking whats next only for him to tell me to hold on, walked away from me and back into the office where a few of the other therapist were. He took his sweet old time and when he did come back out he told me "your done for the day, you can go do your arms exercise." I told him no thank you because of his stand offish attitude towards me the entire time I was there. As I was leaving out I stopped at the window to reschedule only for him to be in there whispering and when I walk up he stops talking and tells me again that I can go do the arm machine. I told him "Nah, I'm good, I just want to reschedule." He ask if I feel any difference in the numbness of my foot and I told him "very little so far" he then told me that he does not need to see me more than once per week from here on out. Now, if you anyone is getting any type of progress, it seems that you would increase the sessions before decreasing but again his attitude towards me was different that day and NOT in a good way! So as I exit I proceed to call my podiatrist office to speak with them about the changes he made and changing locations to the therapy office they had newly taken over closer to my home. since Matt informed me of this, with good intentions that they actually had a location open in my area. Only to find that I couldn't go to that location because it really is 2 totally different businesses. Anyway, with calling my Dr's office I find out that my doctor contacted my therapist regarding the fact that all of her orders were not being followed and that she feels an ultrasound would in fact be helpful. Supposedly, he told her that, its not that he doesn't believe in ultrasounds, they just didn't have the gel to do the ultrasound with. Long story has already been long enough so I will just end it with telling you that my supposed therapist, obviously, was not happy about my doctor reminding him to follow her orders and with his attitude he snapped my foot causing a small rupture/fracture to my achilles causing me to wear a boot for 4 wks, missing my friends funeral, not being able to celebrate my only childs' bday! I called, left a message and they NEVER called back!
