My husband and I stopped here for the night on our Route 66 road trip. The tent camping spots were well maintained and the facilities were clean. However, the KOA is right next to a casino with late hours so it was pretty bright the entire night. I would recommend this location to RV campers who want to explore the casino, but it wouldn't be a first pick for me as a tent camper.
Very nice and clean all over sites, restrooms, laundry room. Staff very polite and helpful. Very pleasant was to watch the horse on the racing track. All this at a very affordable price HIGHLY RECOMMEND
This was a last minute booking just to find a place to stay overnight hoping for a hot shower since we'd had no running water for a week due to frozen pipes. It is out by some horse track/casino thing which is of zero interest to us. We don't gamble. There is no WiFi. They advertise that there is WiFi but that is not true. The WiFi comes from the track casino. Perhaps if your RV is parked right next to the casino you might be able to get a signal-maybe. But that's a big maybe. We were close to the front office in a pull- through slot and we got zero signal. Not a place to stay when you work from the road and stream all of your entertainment. The place was quiet except for the nonstop high winds which there was a high wind advisory out for the evening probably standard for Oklahoma. On a positive, the little town of Claremore,OK has some really nice local non-chain restaurants and plenty of grocery stores and shops conveniently located to the KOA. There is a small playground right beside the front office if you are traveling with children and the campground is dog friendly. The sites are gravel but seemed to be fairly level from what we could tell. For my fellow disabled travelers, all gravel does make mobility issues more difficult so keep that in mind. However, everything was flat so no stairs to climb except for an occasional step up from a curb. Plus for fellow visually impaired, there didn't appear to be much night light. No path lights that I could detect and no individual site lights on the hook up tower that we could find and it was really dark coming out of the bathhouse-at least for night blindness. Restrooms: The women's bathroom was horrible. It was ice cold and there was no hot water for the showers. It was barely lukewarm. The light in the accessible shower was either burned out or there was no light. I couldn't tell. As a legally blind disabled person, this was unacceptable. Having been without water for a week due to frozen pipes, staying in -14 degrees with -39 windchill will do that not being able to take a hot shower pretty much ruined this place for me personally. The tiles were also filthy and had mold and mildew growing on the grout.
Wonderful people, super accomodating, and well kept. Only downside is casino traffic, but honestly, it was a minor inconvenience at best. Definitely will be back.
Would not let us make a reservation until we brought our trailer there. We are long timers but don't have a truck to tow for ourselves yet. Have title ids and plenty of pics. Bad idea!!!
Wow, what a great surprise to find that 10 minuets after we got to the RV park the races started. We could see then from our spot but, we walked over to the racetrack to even enjoy them better. This was a good stopover. Checking Out.Service: 5/5
They are right beside the track & has only a few spots that have any shade at all. Other than that, it was clean & well maintained. It offered a playground for the kids & it was nice. Playground: It was clean & well maintained & it safe for kids. Restrooms: I did see a public restroom. All I know is I didn't smell it. Thats a plus. Dog-friendliness: There were a lot of people with pets. Owners are supposed to clean up after their pets. Unfortunately not all do. But, there is plenty of space to walk your dogs & let them run & play. Picnic area: I saw picnic tables at every camp site.
I chose this campground because of the location during my travels moving Cross country. My bad that I didn’t realize it was a racetrack. I saw KOA. The electric at the site kept tripping a breaker and it’s 100 degrees at 7:30pm. No WiFi and I have official documents to sign. It’s a huge campground with no amenities, no shade. Maybe in the fall it would be ok but certainly not July. I’m not a gambler. I gave it a 3 because part of it was my error. One more edit, I will say the office was helpful and understanding. It’s just not my kind of place.
This KOA is clean, well laid out, with excellent customer service. Location is very convenient - with easy in and out. We definitely recommend this KOA!
We stopped here on a cross country trip. There is a casino right there so there was all sorts of traffic through the night. It was loud. There were puddles everywhere. It would have been nice to be able to walk on our site without having to dodge water everywhere. If we were going for the horse track and casino it would have been okay. We would not return. Not like any other KOA we've ever been to. If you have kids, pass on this one.
