UPDATED REVIEW: After a minor communication mix-up, Steve at the Hamilton location gave me a call and we discussed the situation. He was very understanding, and remedied the situation right away! Great guy to work with. Turkstra replaced the bad boards, delivered for no additional charge. They offered to either take the bad boards back, or let me keep them if I can find a use for them...we will build something for the cats. Very generous, thank you! ...I take back my Home Depot comment...this is fantastic customer service! --------------------------- Original Review: ...I asked if I should hand select my lumber and was assured they will do the picking and they only choose "the best most perfect boards"...I had these delivered since I do not own a truck, paid the $100 delivery fee for the $1700 of wood...almost a quarter of the lumber is unusable. How am I supposed to exchange these...especially with the $100 return fee plus I'd have to rent a van. Home Depot next time.
Small store but well stocked. I found their set up of the cash was very difficult to maneuver as the counter was so far away blocked by a three foot outdoor rail they are using to maintain physical distancing. I am short therefore so are my arms and I couldn’t even come close to reaching the counter. The guy was scanning my items through plexiglass and I had nowhere to put them down while I tried to reach so he could scan. I had to put the items down on a pile of boxes and then bagged it myself afterwards.
I started my shop build with a truss drawing supplied by Turkstra. This allowed me to get a permit from the City. In return, I resolved to purchase trusses and all my lumber from Turkstra. I have been very pleased with the service. Fair prices, on schedule delivery and no fuss payments. I did get a load of tongue and groove 5/8 plywood which was not in acceptable condition. With one call to the yard, they promptly picked it up and delivered a replacement load. Again no questions or excuses they made it right. No qualms recommending Turkstra for your project.
I just want share a quick shout out to Geoff and Gill at Turkstra Lumber. Absolutely awesome job on helping me with 8 new doors and getting them machined to fit. These guys were patient with me and very helpful when we came across a couple minor issues with the fit of the new doors but with no hesitation took care of the customer. I appreciated the effort and service which is very hard to find these days. Thanks Guys!
I'm 61 years old and have been coming to this location since i was about 13 when I built my first workshop in my parents crawl space. Great store great service great products and good price. and most importantly, straight pieces of wood.
Picked up some product to redo casing and baseboard in a room, staff was fairly knowledgeable and quick with service. Prices for what I wanted was much cheaper than the big box stores.
Long time customer and will be canceling my account tomorrow. Shame on you Turkstra for mandating the death jab. Creating a discriminatory, two tiered society with the bogus mandates. Hopefully you lose a lot of business over this vileness. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.
Very knowledgeable staff and friendly. Loaders are quick to help and attentive. Always quick to get you the information you need. We'll stocked lumber yard. Store carries general tools as well to help with building in the industry. Great location to network with other tradesmen. Usually have fresh coffee ready for your exit.
Friendly staff and always have what I need. During COVID I’ve noticed they’re very fast at putting orders together, usually within a couple of hours my things are ready for pickup.
This will be the last time I go to this store. The lumber is good but the staff in the office is very rude and not very helpful. The people that help you load up are very nice and maybe they should be the one's at the front desk. It's too bad because the store is right around the corner from me. I've tried to give them chance after chance but everytime I go there they never disappoint me with the disrespect and how rude they are. I think the owner of the store should look into this because I have a bunch of contractor friends that have stopped going there also. The worst consumer service I've ever encountered. Even worse then home depot Haha.
