The TFC is a student-led organization committed to alleviating poverty by providing resources and opportunities to leverage and combine the individual strengths of Vanderbilt University graduate students, faculty, and business partners.
The Turner Family Center for Social Ventures creates new learning and experiential opportunities for students and carries the knowledge gained from student experiences from year to year, ultimately impacting more businesses, non-profits, and people than Vanderbilt has ever reached before. With the Center’s training and support, students who believe in the power of business to promote the greater good will be empowered to make an incredible local and global impact.
The Center will focus on building student experience, education, and community.
Established with generous support from the Cal Turner Family Foundation, the center extends and expands the foundation’s previous partnership with Vanderbilt to focus on seeking creative, enduring market-based solutions to alleviate poverty.
Foundation chairman Cal Turner Jr., who is also former CEO, chairman and president of Dollar General Corporation, is committed to community development and theological education and actively supports programs at Vanderbilt University including the Cal Turner Program for Moral Leadership in the Professions.
