The Tuscarawas County Park Department, founded in 2004, is responsible for the planning, development, maintenance of trails, the preservation of green space, and interpretation of natural, cultural, and recreational resources of Tuscarawas County.
The Tuscarawas County Commissioners officially created the Tuscarawas County Park Department in January of 2004. The Tuscarawas County Park Department is a department of the County and reports directly to the County Commissioners. The legislation created a Tuscarawas County Park Advisory Committee that includes representation from the County Government, the Department of Soil and Water, the Ohio State Extension Office, the Farm Bureau, Trail and Green space organizations, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Business Sector, Townships and Municipalities.
