An artistic halfway house for people to communicate and express themselves using various art mediums to explore the urban landscape
Twenty North is an artistic halfway house for people to communicate and express themselves using various art mediums to explore the urban landscape and formalize a historical documentation for what will be mostly forgotten by everyone.
A community of people looking to explore the voice of a populace without having to deceive situations with labels and limitations. Gallery, recording studio, rehearsal space, venue, symposium, community classes, lectures, record label and distribution center all adequately describe, yet fail to capture the true essence of what a gathering of artistic drifters are willing to sacrifice in order to simply contribute culture to their city.
Twenty North is simply an action, at times a reaction, and never a function. Already commoditized by conditioning through a historical defect, the art is already sanitized by the situation which led us all to this apparent conclusion. The difference: that sanitized defect artistically disseminated has been distorted by unwashed radical deviant citizens in solidarity to collectively create within a boundary, a useful artistic currency for the soul bank of the masses that have no account at the polished brass doors of what has already been institutionalized.
Fail miserably. It is okay to take a chance on calling everything you do nothing. Welcome to Twenty North. You can decide what we are because we couldn't decide who you are. You can have your definitions, but we cannot adopt them. We can only create.
