100% Volunteer Fire Company
Founded in the early 1940's when several men in the area reacted to the unsatisfactory performance of the South End Fire Company on Aurora street. The South End Fire Company hand not been answering calls, and neighbors of the William and Aurora streets community took steps to form their own Fire Co.. Sometime in the mid 1950's the Town of Lancaster signed an exclusive agreement with the Twin District VFC to protect the south east portion of the town and the South End Fire Company was disbanded.
In the 1950's & 60's the company had a contract with the Town of Cheektowaga to cover the 'no man's land' west of transit road. Boy scout Troop 545 had their first meeting May 12, 1948 & continues to be active in the community through Twin District to this day. Their original log cabin scout lodge was dedicated in 1952 with a new home being built on site in 2010.
