Welcome! My name is Carrie and I'm the artist behind Two Rivers Crochet; all of my products are lovingly handmade in Michigan. I also offer private crochet lessons and the occasional group class.
When I was a little girl my grandmother crocheted me a beautiful granny square blanket which, 30 years later, I still use every winter to keep warm. I can feel the love and time she put into each stitch and I wanted desperately to learn how to crochet so I could pass that feeling on to others.
Unfortunately before I could master anything beyond chaining my grandmother passed away when I was a freshman in high school. Many years later, after my own son was born and I became a stay at home mom, I picked up a crochet book looking for something I could do that wasn't toddler related.
It took me years to master the basic stitches and feel comfortable following a pattern. Once YouTube was launched a whole new world opened up and I added to my skill set. Many Christmas and birthday gifts have been made in the form of blankets, shawls, mittens and hats, pillows, and even amigurumi toys.
Thirteen years have passed since my journey began and I learned there are others who also wish to learn crochet but struggle with books and YouTube. They wanted a teacher and I have always loved to teach. I launched my business in 2015 and have had over 30 students pass successfully through the Beginner Crochet courses and start their own journeys making items for charity and loved ones.
