We are SO impressed with Friendly Vet Animal Hospital. They were extremely thorough, friendly, and timely. After completing an extensive initial exam, Dr. Grover explained everything he found. And when our test results came back, Dr. Grover called us directly to review the findings. He took the time to explain his recommendations and break down complex issues into simple understandable terms. So amazing!! We feel exceptionally confident in the care provided here and know we have found our forever vet!
I would like to first put this out there for full transparency: I am a current full time veterinary technician on staff at this hospital, but this review is coming from personal experience with my pets...who for the record are like my children. Both Dr. Berg and Dr. Grover have taken such time and care with my animals that they deserve a million stars. My elderly dog has had to have two bladder stone surgeries, one of which was an emergency. I knew with 100% trust that they would help my guy. Dr. Grover even did research in his own time off of the clock to find me an app to help me at home because this will be a life long struggle for my dog sadly. I am proud to work at a hospital where I can take my own animals and know they I'll get amazing care and that they will also answer any questions I have and calm my anxiety about it. I'm a "human nursing" major but even when I move onto human medicine and out of this field I will never take my pets anywhere else.
Dr. Grover has been our family vet for as long as I can remember. When I began having the responsibility of my own pets there was no question that I would follow Dr. Grover’s practice, despite our move to a new home an hour away. Dr. Grover and his team provide an unparalleled level of expertise, kindness, and care. He provides a conservative approach and will explore and exhaust all options to provide thorough quality care for your furry family members. Our specific experience was through the adoption of a 6-month old chihuahua mix who, due to a birth defect, ended up needing an amputation of his front leg. Dr. Grover’s surgery was pristine and our pup adapted to life as a tripod remarkably. The most notable though is that even now, 6 years later, Dr. Grover has made himself available whenever we have had concerns or questions regarding our pups mobility or health. We cannot thank him enough for going above and beyond for what he does to care for our dog!
Our dog had a medical emergency last summer and our vet was closed right when I needed very urgent help. I called FOUR other animal hospitals first but they didn’t want to give any information over the phone and wanted me to drive when I really needed help immediately. Finally, I got Friendly Vet Animal Hospital. The nurse on the line gave me tangible and very helpful instructions for helping my dog. She put my dog and our family before anything else, even though our dog had never been a patient. I’ve never forgotten that kindness! I told her I would write a review and finally, here it is. Thank you! Also…our dog is doing very well
Dr. Grover is an incredible vet and his staff follows suit. My boyfriend has taken his dog, Wrigley, since he was a puppy. Now that Wrigley is older, he has some health problems. Dr. Grover and his team work diligently to keep Wrigley healthy and provide multiple options for health care routes. On two occasions Wrigley has come into the Friendly Vet with health concerns and they have stayed open late to help Wrigley. We also have a puppy, Nala, and she is a scaredy-cat. However, the staff at the Friendly Vet makes her feel comfortable. The team at the Friendly Vet is top notch; they are positive and personable. 10/10 recommend this animal hospital for all your pet needs!
We usually see Doc Grover or Doc Berg, and they are both amazing!! We brought our first pup in who had a bad experience at a couple of vets he barked at the staff and didn't let people touch him. He walked in and was practically putting in Doc Berg's hands. Our second dog was a last chance foster fail we had been told was skittish at the vet. We brought him in, and same thing. He absolutely melted over Doc Berg and the every tech and staff person he met. On walks, they both want to go in and say hi and get treats. All three docs have met our cats including needing urgent surgery during this pandemic. I can't say the cats love the vet, but they don't try to hide or get away, and I love how the docs will sit on the floor with our pets if that's more comfortable for the pet even though it can't be comfy to do an exam on the floor. I even turned my sister in law onto these docs. She had been having a difficult time at the vet she had used for years with her new dog who is reactive and difficult. First meeting with Doc Grover, and he's practically laying in the doctor's lap and is happily munching treats from his hand. A huge difference from his precious vet who could barely touch him. I don't know how, but the whole team are a pet whisperers. Everyone here goes the extra mile every time we go in, and I couldn't be more grateful.
Bad experience. Not very good with seriously diagnosing. And pushy with meds that didn't work. $$ Dr. assistant with black hair she said,,actually said, Did he buy everything..? As I stood in the hallway. Rip off. Nothing worked my dog actually got even more sick. Time for a new Vet.
My dog started acting strange and throwing up, the only place open at night was the Aurora emergency vet. There was a possibility she got into ibuprofen and the Aurora emergency vet quoted us between $3000-4000! We trusted Dr. Grover and everyone on staff there. They did blood work and found out she was in stage 3 kidney failure. They hooked her up to fluids right away and started treating our dog. They put a lot of care and love into the animals they treat and you can see the passion they have. This was during the holidays and they went in early each morning when they were closed on new years eve and new years day, putting our dogs well being first. We got the call today from Dr Grover saying she was doing much better and she could go home today. The bill was just under $700, way less than the Aurora emergency vet! We are extremely pleased with the treatment they gave our dog and their service is exceptional. We cannot thank Dr Grover and the staff enough for saving our dogs life.
Been my vet since they opened in Lisle. Love them all, but Dr Berg is my go-to vet!
Stella developed a few lumps and a mole over the past two years, she was taken to two different vets and they told me the cysts were nothing to worry about. Going to the vet is normally stressful for stella and I. Stella will be very timid and stressed, she normally hides behind my legs and cries at the vet, she loved Dr. Grover, when he would walk away she would follow him. I’ve never had a vet thoroughly examine her, he ran his hand over all her fur, check her eyes, ears, mobility in her legs. He also found 2 more cracked teeth, Stella’s already had two teeth removed and not once had a vet recommended that we take her bones away and purchase chew toys that are gently on the teeth, if your finger nail can dent it, it’s safe. Had a vet told me this 3 times ago Stella would have 3 more teeth!
